Switch BUG Unknown error crashes game

I'm at the end of year 2 on my switch's save file, and the current day is the Feast of the Winter Star. So far, my game works perfectly fine when I do things around my farm, and it works once the event has begun and I talk to people. But as soon as I give my gift to my secret gift recipient, a cutscene where I am supposed to see who my gift giver is begins and then a screen pops up saying "Unknown Error has occurred" and the game crashes. Is there some way around this? I would like to participate in the day's festivities, rather than having to just skip it by sleeping. Not sure how to fix this.

This same thing is happening to me and I’m on year six 😩. Your post is the only thing I could find on it. I’ve since sent an email, I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Oh man, that's a bummer for sure.

I wonder if the switch error logs might provide any useful information for either CA/developer or for Nintendo? I have never looked at a switch log, so I really have no idea, it's just that each time I see something like this for switch that it makes me curious what these logs look like and what kind of information they contain/provide. Probably it is just "useful for Nintendo-only" stuff though. 😕

Sorry to hear you're running into this. I have to admit, this bit from that link (and its resulting information when each are selected) makes me curious as to the output:

Once selected, you can choose from the following options:
  • View the Error: Displays the error message associated with the error code.
  • Network: Displays information on the network settings at the time of the error.
  • Software: Displays information on the software used at the time of the error.
  • System: Displays information on the console settings at the time of the error.

Also I have no idea if posting the software-related stuff would be of any help/use to CA or not. Maybe this is an occasional Switch thing?

Thanks for your reply, I’ll look into reporting it to Nintendo as I tested at least 7 different scenarios to see if I could bump pass the bug somehow. Will report back when I reach my next winter festival. My gift recipient was Pam, I wonder if the OP had the same one?

Same happen to me i'm at Year 38 on fall and every time i go to sleep the game crashes and i can't advance a day anymore, its pretty unplayable at this state
