Whenever my split screen partner and I play co-op and are moving between areas, the screen on the moving player fades into black and returns (this is normal).
During this fade, the other player's screen will darken and then re-brighten. It appears to be about 25% of the full fade the other player is experiencing.
The effect is amplified during later in-game times (evening/night hours).
