So I found that if I blocked myself from moving, I could place machines directly onto machines in the mushroom cave. This destroys the placed machine and works even on the boxes of the mushroom cave. I have been able to pull of this glitch in 1.5.6 Steam version and 1.5.4.2 Switch version. To be clear, it doesn't require basic sprinklers, but I've only tested with basic sprinkler, iridium sprinkler, and mini-jukebox just yet.
I did some further testing and found this also works on machines in the house, on the farm and outside the farm even. You could also use small pieces of furniture to destroy machines.
