This bug isn’t game-breaking or anything, but it was quite strange. I was on the 17th of winter before the update dropped, and after it came out, I got the letter from Mayor Lewis saying who my secret santa target was for the feast (Evelyn). I spent most of the week before the festival checking out the new island, meeting Leo in the process. The day before the Feast, however, I got another letter from Lewis about the feast, but this time it said that Leo was my target instead of Evelyn. Because I had just met Leo, he hadn’t moved to the mainland and therefore he was nowhere to be found at the feast. I double checked that Evelyn wasn’t still my target, and there was no option to give her a gift, so I had to just leave the Feast without doing a gift exchange.
