PC [BUG] Male Sheep and Pigs Giving Birth, Becoming Female Upon Becoming Adults?

Okay, so a strange incident occurred on one of my saves. This is what happened: I bought a pig from Marnie, one that was definitely male. Marnie said "his new home" when I bought him, and it said "he's getting used to his new home" when I clicked him. As such, I thought that I'd never have to bother with disabling pregnancy for him when he became an adult. Or so I thought. Imagine my absolute shock when I was informed that my male pig has apparently given birth. Sure enough, I went in to check, and the piglet has this pig listed as his (I made sure to make note of the pronoun used) parent, and I went over to check on the parent, and there was now an option to enable/disable pregnancy. My pig that was certainly male at the time I bought him had clearly become female upon becoming an adult. And once again, this piglet who was male was also suddenly female upon becoming an adult, as indicated by the enable/disable pregnancy option that appeared.

I could be wrong but doesnt she use 'he' for the cows and chickens as well? Im going to have to look into that :)

I don't think I've ever seen Marnie sell me male cows, goats, chickens, or ducks. If I'm wrong, though, please confirm. That'd be helpful to know.

She definitely sold me male rabbits, but they can’t give birth- at least I don’t think so. But, now that I think about it, I’ve have “male”pigs give birth. Maybe Marnie’s not as good with animals as she thinks!

I think this is more of a glitch or something. But if all animals where female upon purchase/birth that would be a bit unrealistic. I don't think it's possible for marine to give male ducks, chickens, or cows,
That would make make chickens roosters and I don't think that's a mechanic in the game. I'm pretty sure male ducks can't lay eggs either. Male cows don't produce milk, that would be a bull. I think a species mechanic would be cool like with cows. Jersey cows would be cool!

Ok, sorry for the delay.

I bought 10 chickens (all female)
I bought 10 ducks (all female)
I bought 10 pigs and 5 where male and 5 where female. What was interesting is it alternated between male and female evenly the entire time. I didnt try on other animals but I predict all the goats and sheep to be 100% female and the rabbits to alternate between male/female while buying them.

I guess I was remembering wrong seeing chickens/goats/cows as a 'him' ever.

males giving birth must be a glitch/oversite. Its to bad you cant tell genders after. Be curious to see if the animal given birth was still male, or if the game changes thier gender to female.

I recently bought two sheep. One was male and one was female. Sure enough, upon becoming adults, both the female and male sheep had the enable/disable pregnancy option on them. As such, if this is a bug, then it seems to extend to sheep as well as pigs.

i wonder if it was originally a way to make pregnancy not an automatic thing or you originally have to have both a male and a female in the barn. i get male and female for the sheep and pigs because their purposes don't involve milk or eggs, so i'm convinced it's an oversight at this point if not a bug

Agreed. Is there any way that this thread could be moved to Bug Reports, or is it fine where it is?
