Switch [BUG] Can’t place gems on pillars

I’m unable to place the gems you get from the birds that drop them on rainy days on ginger island. I cant get the golden walnuts from it being solved and they are the only ones I need left. Someone please help me

Question are you able to place anything on the pillars at all? As the act of going up to it with anything in hand and pressing (a) or the check button should deposit the item like you were placing on a table.....can you place items on tables?

I can place items on tables just not the pillars nothing at all can be put on the pillars
