Blue grass on Standard Farm?

I am considering to start a new save file, on a Standard Farm. Is it actually manageable, to plant and maintain, full blue grass, across its map (once you get the recipe from Qi)? Or the native green will disrupt and break the sequence (since it needs trimming)?

It's absolutely manageable, sure you can go around trimming the regular grass but you can place fences/lighting rods/machines over blue grass in particular and animals can mow the green grass away without you needing to care much.

In addition, it's not like you're massively losing out if they eat some regular grass here and there either. If your animals are at high/max friendship the blue grass basically does nothing over regular grass either.

No it’s totally possible but you will have to have access to starter recipes or enough money to buy decent amount of starters from Pierre. You will have to regularly harvest the green grass out of its path (turn it to hay with silos) so you can let it grow freely. Keep your animals away from it for some time until it gets going. Put fencing on several pieces to keep them making grass while not getting eaten by animals. So a little more TLC, and hard work than meadowland but certainly possible. Animal crackers can do the job way quicker than blue grass though they are harder to get a hold of in the beginning.

That's for regular grass, they're talking about having a full blue grass coverage (a new feature locked behind the walnut room on all but meadowlands).

Animal crackers don't affect friendship, they simply allow the animal to create double of the item they would normally, the quality and size of which is still affected by the mood and friendship, of which blue grass increases at a higher rate than regular grass. They're also not at all exclusive, they can both be used in tandem as they have entirely different functions.

Thanks for clarifying FG! I was mistaken in thinking that then. I thought the crackers took care of everything since they are hard to come by, especially in beginning. 😊 Guess not. So blue grass affects both mood and friendship then? And the crackers cause double animal produce no matter the mood/friendship? Just trying to understand exactly so I don’t misquote them again. 😋

So the fence post trick does NOT work on blue grass then? No wonder it didn’t seem to grow as fast. (I just worry about the crackers and hay/green grass. Thought the blue grass would spread like green, just more slowly. Ha ha, learning more about 1.6 all the time,

Then will blue grass spread on other farms or just remain as planted like a crop rather than green grass.

Yes, whatever your animal was going to produce, whether a small regular quality Milk or an iridium quality Large Egg, it'll give you 2 of them after being fed an Animal Cracker.

The fence post trick still works, there was just a bit of miscommunication there. I think FG meant you can protect your Blue Grass with the Fence and let the animals eat the Green stuff. Blue Grass spreads just like other Grass as I have a patch slowly expanding across my otherwise Green Grass patch (when given some space to expand).

Even with max  with Animals, Blue Grass has one last advantage in that Animals clear it at roughly half the rate of Green Grass so if you're planning on your Animals feeding themselves, you need half the farm area full of Blur Grass than you need of Green Grass. Which is great for me as now my Mushroom Tree Forest has a ton more space to grow and look awful for the Winter!

Any animal going outside and eating grass will instantly have max mood regardless of grass type. Regular grass gives 8 friendship and blue grass gives double that at 16 (which is more than you get from petting though won't count as petting and therefore will have have to counter the loss of friendship from not interacting with your animal/having an autopetter to do so for you.

Animal crackers just double the produce for all bug pigs yep. If a chicken was going to lay a single small gold quality egg it now lays 2 of that egg. As simple as that. And you're right in assuming that they don't affect friendship or mood at all, yep!

It does, sorry if I was confusing in my first message. All I meant is that you can put the fences on the blue grass to protect it but leave the green grass to all get eaten and then you don't have to manage any of the green grass and worry it'll take over.
