In addition to the other mid-day auto save bugs (loss of horse and buffs), auto save resets the Desert Festival Skull Cavern Quests. This is probably all part of the same bug, where transient intraday data, not included in overnight save data, is lost during mid-day auto save.
Gil’s Egg Level counter resets,
and Marlon’s Challenge board resets with 2 or 1 options, not including the one already selected. The previously selected option(s), already in journal, stay.
Marlon’s bug is stackable / exploitable.
By repeatedly auto saving and restarting, you can claim all 3 possible challenges at once (Deep Dive, Treasure Hunt, Monster Hunt).
Willy’s fish quest might also have this bug. It’s too late for me to test this in this game year.
Special Order board in Pelican Town do not have the same bug.
I think the difference is that the Special Order board has multi-day challenges, so they are part of the overnight save.
