Ask before going to next floor of mines

Frustrated because this is the 5th time this happened

I'm in danger in the mines, I attack in a panic, and when I finally get hit, I pull out some food, one of the monsters dies, spawns a ladder, and attempting to eat food will send me down the ladder, despite being half a tile away, and not aiming at the ladder.

I've lost 2 weapons, 9 veins of iron ore in one map, quite a few gemstone ores, and just the fact that I could have killed the mob if I ate some cheese.

It asks if you eat (overwritten by ladders), and it asks if you climb out using the ladder you came from. Why not ask when you climb down?

I respect this idea and I am not against it. Everyone is different.
If the developer made it happen, allow us to personalize the game setting.

I am the type of person who does not like to be asked.
When I am in a hurry, I wished I did not gets asked to go down.
I rather go by the flow...

I missed a prismatic shard because I accidentally went to the next floor. I need this option

Especially when using stairs it would annoy me, but I understand the need from dgood1.
So best way this gets an option.
