Any way to make money other than fishing?

There is no real way for Spring Y1 to get good money. Crops have a very low g/day value; you can't process anything, and so on. You also don't have energy food, so you have to fish for gold and energy fish to then go to mines to then have 40-50 quality sprinklers for summer to plant lots of blueberries and start making more gold (and/or move into better animals, mushroom logs, legend fish ponds later on etc.).

Awh man. Well I'm enjoying my playthrough. I don't fish because I hate fishing. I just water my crops and walk around town playing Journey of King in the salon. I guess I will just wait for my crops to grow and then save up for the egg festival. I don't wana rush this playthrough.

bad news: fishing is pretty much your only money making option week 1. as far as spring crops go Potatoes are about as good as you're gonna get, at least until you can segue into strawberries.

Now, it is possible to "diamond farm" once you get past the midpoint of the mines by rapidly resetting floors via the elevator... but that might be even more tedious than fishing tbh.

Use all your money to buy the cheapest plant, grow it, sell it, do it over and over. Soon enough, you'll have a lot of money, but lots to water!!! It works, I've done it on every farm because I HATE fishing... Well, tell me if you try it out!!!

Walk the maps every third day or so to pick up Forageables and use them to immediately finish the first bundle for the Community Center on Spring 5. Sell those reward Wild Seeds if you want g right now or plant them if you want a bit more in a week. or:

If you're playing a slightly longer game, talk to Caroline every day and gift her Daffodils or Horseradish (so save your higher quality ones) to get her to 2  and then enter her Tea Room to get the Tea Sapling Recipe the next day. Those sell for 250g and are made from Wild Seeds (the very gift you got from the CC Bundle), Wood, and Fiber. Wood and Fiber are readily available on the town maps and more Fiber in the Mines which you'll be opening up very soon.

I used to boredFish for early game g. I still do but a lot less and do the above instead. LOL which may be boring to you!

One way to make money would be to forage, then turn the foraged stuff into spring seeds, and sell those, or grow some of the seeds to get more wild plants to turn into seeds.

Fixing the bridge to the tidal pools would give access to coral and the occasional sea urchin, which have somewhat decent value.

That's a lot of wood though..... Well about thirty or so trees.

That's what I am doing. I bought like 15 parsnip seeds with the 15 seeds we already get from Lewis I planted them and water them everyday. I could probably buy more seeds but really that's too much to water.

I remember they used to sell for 500G. Well 250G is still good enough I could buy the backpack upgrade with that. And when I gain access to the mines get my water can upgraded.

Compared to all you'll need later on, it's not much. I don't want to think about how much wood I've used for buildings and crafted items. Besides, cutting down trees gives a good amount of forage experience.

When I plant early on, I tend to plant in 3x3 blocks, with the middle space empty. That allows me to stand there and water those around me, then go to the next empty space and water. Helps me keep track of what I've done, and it feels a bit quicker.

That's also a good pattern to keep using so you can eventually add sprinklers.
