Angler profession and Fish Smoker

If smoking fish with the 1.6 Fish Smoker machine doubles any fish price, then does the Angler profession that normally grants gives the price of the base fish a 50% boost, still get added to base price, then fish smoker doubles that total? If that doesn’t make sense let me know please.

Based on tests by others, it looks like the Fish Smoker benefits from both Angler and Artisan Professions to give a sizeable g boost from both in sell price. So if you're looking for g from Fishing, these seem to stack nicely though you need a lot of XP before you get to Level 10 in both Fishing and Farming to make those choices.

Howeverrrr if ye be lookin' fer the adventcherrrr and rewarrrrrrds that ye truly be deservin' by plunderin' the fair seas then ye best be choosin' the noble profession of Privateer and Freebooter to join up with me motley crew of scallywags, ruffians 'n generally scurvy-smellin' deckswabbers where we be sailin' the open seas and only occasionally drownin' in mostly very small piles of

Yes, it benefits from fisher and/or angler as well as artisan (on top of the already doubling while keeping quality - it's quite powerful)

For example, say I caught a chub
That chub was iridium, it's worth double the sell price of the base fish - 100g instead of 50g
I have the angler profession which raises the value by 50% - from 100g to 150g
Now I decide to smoke the fish, that again doubles the value - now my smoked chub is worth 300g
Since the smoked fish now counts as an artisanal good, artisan will apply, giving a 1.4x multiplier - raising value from 300g to 420g

So I now have a good worth more than octuple it's base value (more than quadruple what I caught it as)

There is one quirk, if in multiplayer and one person has only one of the professions and another player has only the other, then only the greater one will apply (fisher<artisan<angler), instead of stacking together like they would if one person has both professions. So that's something to consider if you want to make the most out of your smoked fish in multiplayer.

Hmmm... that's like what, 42000 for a Smoked Iridium Legend II? Extended Family may be a good money maker - 3 days of dedicated Legend II fishing! You can probably afford all the housing upgrades and renovations in one go with a session like that!

Problem is, you need to open Qi's Walnut Room to get the quest and it's still random which one you'll get, but if you ignore the Farmhouse to get there then this becomes a viable strategy. Is that a common speedrunning or other min/max strategy?

Honestly I completely forgot about how strenuous it is to unlock the room to begin with lol. Naw, I doubt this is any meta strats, I just saw Gorilla's number and didn't realize how much more profitable Legend was (I already know it was 10K iridium previously).
I was thinking it could help get the 10M for the Gold Clock quicker, or other late game activities (like the aforementioned housing upgrades and community upgrades) - when you want to focus on the content more rather than money-making. It could be a quick burst of income for 3 dedicated days, and then you are off doing fun content (though fishing is the funnest content ).

Also, it's a way to promote fishing, and that's always my MO :D

Wow! Cool! Yeah I’m not a known maximizer, I just like alternate ways to make money in the game. I’m so sick of crops it’s unbearable. I love mining. Now that I finally got the hang of mobile fishing and it’s been made much more profitable I can actually do runs that don’t rely on crops at any point. Animals, fishing, mining and foraging. Though foraging hasn’t been made less lucrative with 1.6. However you can put all but the flowers in preserve jars, kegs or dehydrators depending on what it is so that’s a nice change that makes up for tea bushes dropping. Once you start getting animal crackers you can make fish ponds profitable too!

You can absolutely make a killing off the quest (in the million+ range without being lucky), buying house upgrades or just have the money to direct anywhere you wish.

And sure it's locked behind the nut room, but that doesn't make it necessarily less useful. People make money before and after opening the nut room, saying you'll use it as a money making stratgey doesn't at all limit you to using it alone. It's quick cash and offers variation from the very standard crops and processing (and in no way can't just be paired with it too).

Is that a common speedrunning or other min/max strategy?
Not too common, no, but it's been talked about as something possible, especially for something like mobile where you can theoretically catch 100+ legend 2s a day (so long as you have patience, time, and a lot of both).
Being locked behind the walnut room isn't too large an obstacle, with some good/diligent gameplay (+ some routing), it's possible to get there as early as the second week of spring, and feasible for many more by spring in general. Without forcing quests however it's simply up to rng, you can be blessed with floods of the quests or suffer an absolute drought (I've had quests I want not appear for years after unlocking the room).

Spring year 2 right? Or are people really unlocking the walnut room in spring year 1?

Yeah Spring Y1 sounds crazy! Reveal your secrets Gorilla
I find that I cannot get enough for 100 walnuts comfortably unless I sneak in the 15 nuts from le Gourmand, and Garlic is Y2 without some luck!
The most I can complete the Walnut Room was Fall Y1, and that was with excessive shenanigans

This is spring one and yeah is definitely quite crazy (especially getting there in the first 2-3 weeks)

Haha, it's not so much secrets as very careful and well executed playing. Clay farming for early cash (or fishing but it's slower), deep in the mines ASAP, then something like geode or void/diamond farming to buy the joja forms basically as fast as possible. You can also choose to complete both the boiler room and all vault bundles on day 6 with the cc which buys an extra day but that's incredibly tough to pull off.
The hardest thing about the whole process is really the hardwood, if you just want to get there in spring though it's not too bad, instead of that first mad rush for joja completion you can pour some cash into axe/pick upgrades, going for wood basically every day possible.
Rolling some cash into skull cavern runs is basically necessary for easy cash/iridium/batteries, which should see you with a boat completion ideally around the early fourth week (20th-23rd). Again hardwood is the tough part but you get a good chunk of the hardwood just from the farm which only necessitates about 9 visits to the secret woods.

Once you're on the island, it's very much a mad dash. I've been able to get 100 walnuts in just about 3 days, but it's possible to do it in 2. It's even harder than you think as many (like all of gourmand frog ones) are impossible and many more (like the banana one) are very hard. There are minmax routes you can follow for them, does require some resetting though as sometimes you're just outright unlucky in the volcano or when fishing.

You also now have the option of buying walnuts. at 10k each it doesn't sound super appealing but it's really only the last 20-30 walnuts that are difficult, most of them are quick and easy. That's where your skull cavern runs come back, with some decent runs you could easily amass a couple 100k and just buy the last ones, getting you into the walnut room right at the tail end of spring.

It's definitely not easy, but far from impossible. Getting into the room well before then is something else entirely though, and even I'm fine leaving that to actual high level min-max players

Okay I definitely forgot you can Joja your way out of 100 walnuts lol - working out 100 walnuts found organically in my head didn't make sense. Money def talks, then I can see how that can be done!

It can and has been done with collecting regularly, there have been minmax runs getting all the walnuts regularly in a matter of two days in 1.5 when buying wasn't an option.

That isn't very feasible for many though, especially if not on pc which is just an objectively superior platform for movement/pausing/animation optimizations which cut time everywhere.

I forgot joja was a thing! I've always done cc, and I'm always stuck waiting for winter for the last few forage items.
You can do it in Fall if you

1) Befriend Demetrius and he sends you a Nautilus Shell; and

2) You get the greenhouse and plant winter seeds (by either seed making winter roots
