Greetings — I have finally found a bug! It only took 2000+ hours. Impressive.

This bug occurs on version 1.6.9 / build 40 on a PlayStation 5 disc edition
System software for PS5: 25.01-10.60.00.06-00.00.00.0.1

I am playing with a Dual Sense controller

I have recreated this issue at least 3 times, albeit on the same save file. I have done so in years 1, 2, and 3.

When entering the Mermaid Show, and pressing “X” adjacent to the stage, the show begins and sounds and such work perfectly.

However, this being my millionth playthrough, I attempt to skip the show by pressing the middle bar (the touch pad) on a dual sense (PS5) controller. Instead of skipping the show like it would with actual cut scenes, it brings up the task list as it would with during normal “live” play.

The mermaid show then stops and can not be re-initiated. The curtains close and all music and sound is muted and cannot be re-started. Even returning to the title screen is not enough to fix the sound, as the sound is still muted. There is no indication of a muted state, and no adjustment of settings can restore sound. The only solution I have found is to completely close out the game and restart it. I do not have to restart the PlayStation, which is nice!

I know this is a minor bug, but I did want to bring it to your attention.

I’m unsure if CA checks this, but if he does… I cannot thank you for Stardew enough, it has helped me through some very dark moments in my life and given me hope for the future. I am so happy for you and your success. You deserve it. You inadvertently saving my life. When I became totally disabled, I thought there was nothing left for me. A friend gave me a TV & console and told me to try video games. Another told me to try Stardew.

You have helped me endure years of significant pain. Thank you for taking a chance on your dreams. Thank you for giving me something to do. Thank you for giving me joy when nothing else could.

Stardew inspired me to leave the city and buy a cabin in the woods — it looks just like the Stardew cabin! I’ve lived here for 4 years, and I cherish this place. The nature, the birds, the wildlife. It’s all so magical, and I never would have seen it if you hadn’t gotten me though the worst of it.

You are treasured by so many.
