A way to swap the R1/L1 and R2/L2 functions on controller.

As it is now, there's no way I've found to do this. Trying to rebind it via steam config does nothing.

--> Swapping the buttons on steam doesn't work, since the game acts like you didn't actually swap their buttons. Steam doesn't let you turn off the R2/L2 triggers either (it resets it to back on, if you try), so you can't force it that way by using a third party controller to rebind those to something else.

In-game, the keybinds listed are only pc keys and there's no way to rebind other than the steam config (which, as stated, doesn't work)

It ONLY works briefly if you set R1/L1 to mouse scroll up and down, but once you unlock the next bag, it makes it clear that it didn't work since it ignores the mouse scroll change and acts like a hotbar swapper again, completely ignoring steam config changes.

Why can't we swap these functions on controller??

It would be helpful, if you tell a bit about your system....
Windows 11? Platform instal via Steam? USB/BT controllers?

At least for Linux you could try QJoyPad for a personal configuration.

Oh, whoops, I forgot! Sorry about that.
I'm using windows 11 and playing on steam. I also use an old wired PS3 controller plugged in via USB.

Though, I actually found a solution after searching and doing some digging. This mod does exactly what I needed, letting you turn off the native controller support for specific buttons of your choosing.

After disabling steam controller input, I was able to turn off R1/L1 and R2/L2 in-game with this mod (and re-enable the keys that this mod disables by default, mainly d-pad and some of the buttons via editing the config file the mod creates) and then I used xpadder to rebind mouse scroll wheel up and down to R1/L1 and tab to R2/L2.

I'm so thankful to modders for things like this. They are truly a godsend.
Still, it would be nice if this was something you could do easier in the base game (especially for fixing multiplayer split screen controls). If he ever does make a new version, I'm worried it will break this mod.
