A small change to cooking ingredients

I don't know if this has been suggested before, sorry if it has.

You can already use duck eggs in place of chicken eggs, and goat milk instead of cow milk in recipes.
It would make sense to also be able to use duck/dinosaur mayonnaise and goat cheese in recipes that call for regular mayonnaise and cheese respectively.

Not changing much in the game I know, but it's also probably very quick to implement.

Honestly, what you're proposing is the ability to use expensive ingredients in place of less expensive... and while that is fine for balance, I wouldn't want to use those as substitutes because they're more expensive and I could sell them instead.

It's also important to know that it is very easy to use items by mistake. Anything on your person, or in a fridge, will will be used when cooking. Moreover, it's the positioning of the items that determines which item is used first.

My understanding of the system is that items on your person are always used before fridge items, and the first item in an inventory that is used is in the bottom right position, and then it gradually works left and upward, with the final item being in the top left position. When you hit the organize button, the cow/chicken products do appear behind than the goat/duck products, but you could still easily make the mistake cooking them when you didn't mean to. I've made this mistake before, and it doesn't feel good when you realize you used up something you didn't want to because you were not paying attention to what was being used up.

I can understand wanting to use more expensive versions of an item when you need it though, aside of whether or not it's more valuable to sell it cooked or not. For instance, there is a quest to create a lot of cooked food, so if you have a bunch of goat milk and no cow milk, then you would certainly want to use the goat milk. Likewise, I use a lot of pumpkin soup, which is the second best item to cook for luck and a lot easier to make than a lucky lunch. It needs milk though, so it would be handy to be able to use goat milk if I ran out of cow milk.

Personally, I like it the way it is, but I can understand wanting to have this as a feature.

It's not the best way to make money of course, so in a sense that's proof enough that it won't bring imbalance.
What it does bring is options for players.

I mean, you can already use goat milk instead of cow milk for cooking, and it is more expensive. This would just be a logical extension.

Exactly.

Or for example, if you happen to only have goats and no cows, you could still make recipes that require cheese. It will cost you more to do so, but you don't have to ... get a cow and wait 2 weeks just to cook pepper poppers (which are amazing IRL with goat cheese BTW)
