A Confession

My characters’ are terrible farmers.

They hate chickens. Having to chase them around the coop to jolly them into laying eggs is infuriating. The fact that there are a total of 9 slots in the auto grabber taken up with eggs fills my characters with thoughts of roast chicken, chicken and dumplings, barbecue chicken, chicken with 40 cloves of garlic and more.

Pigs are ungrateful beasts. You spoil them, give them the best of everything and head off to a town festival and they take it personally. They punish my farmers by cutting back the truffle production. On other days a herd of happy swine produce an insulting amount of truffles.

Look I understand that iOS still has to wait for 1.5. But could we at least get the auto petter to avoid a bloodbath on Avalon farm?

Your character isn't a bad farmer (at least not based on the evidence presented), just a bad rancher. 🙂 Mine too, which is why I'll be selling off almost all my animals pretty soon.

Totally agree on the pig; just weirdly random. Usually doesn't produce a truffle (too much grass on the map), but one time I found a grid of eight truffles all together (3x3 grid with one corner missing). Bizarre!

Here here with getting an auto petter!!! It just about kills the game for me having to go around petting each animal every single day if I want premium output. I am an animal lover in real life but this gets tedious and extremely boring. Or at least maybe reduce the amount of “pets” needed to keep the animals happy. Or maybe once you get them to full hearts they just stay there.

I still haven't been able to get my mitts on an auto-petter and I really want one. I wish my husband would help out with that part since I have auto-feeders, but he's too busy cho...errr...taking care of his own chicken to dote on mine.

If you are at full hearts, the decline is very slow. You can look at the math at the wiki if you're interested, but basically getting outside and eating fresh grass is enough to stop decline, even if there is an occasional rainy day. I never bother to pet all animals after maybe year one, I just pet the ones that stand in my way.

In winter, it is enough to pet them every third day if they had full hearts (or just do the last 10 winter days).

I have revamped my 12 year farm several times and now I have only one barn and one coop and THAT's IT! One of the end game quests is "give 50 loved gifts" and I'm stocking more rabbits.
