I don't do mods I play on Switch but I like when others share thier modded stuff. Maybe one day I'll try it.

I'm about to go from a fairly heavily modded game to one with minimal mods to test an attempt to make my own mod. Aside from the stuff needed to test my own modding, these are the ones I'm keeping because I think I would go nuts without them:

Automatic gates - such a small dumb change and yet I really don't want to go back.
Diverse Stardew Valley - While I do leave some characters vanilla, and the Asian looks often aren't quite as well done as I'd like, there are some that I've imprinted on. And it does some nice seasonal outfits for villagers, too.
Better ranching - Tells me when my animals need love (or milking).

Most of my other faves are things like new NPCs or the dialogue expansions that try to respect canon. My current favourite new NPC is "Jorts and Jean the Helper Cats" which I thought would mostly be a joke mod but is better done than I expected. Though it does introduce talking cats, which some people find too much magic.

My "must have" list (mods that I added when I'm testing a bunch of my own ones with minimum extras): Timespeed (erm), Better ranching and Fast petting, Fishing made easy (I suck at fishing), NPCMaplocations and Gift Taste Helper, Skull cavern elevator, Automate. New favourite: Nerf Cave puzzle,
Mods that add Stuff: Riverside Village, East Scarp, Walk to the Desert (Redux).

I like to have different additions (and new farm maps) for new runs.

Just noticed that RSV, East Scarp, WttD and Zuzu in one save is too much. I have to put Zuzu in with only WttD and possibly some small additions. Even with heavily slowed time (which means an hour or more real time between savepoints) I've got no time to visit Zuzu.

Just noticed I forgot NPC Map Locations. I did without this one until like February this year and once I had it, it became "where have you been all my life?". I wouldn't add it on a first run but once you kind of know the characters it makes great sense.
