gus' famous omelet

I got Gus's Famous Omelet, but in my journal it says 8 eggs collected, 9 eggs in Gus's fridge. Huh?

The wiki says one can grab the eggs from the Auto-Grabber but this didn't trigger the "collected"-bar when I tried to finish Gus' Famous Omelet last time. I already had this quest finished before but with manual collecting. And it worked fine for "collecting" and "giving". Can anyone help why...
