If I use a mod to make children grow past toddler age, should it work immediately or does it only work on new saves? I would also like to mention that I started using this mod in the middle of an existing save where children have been in toddler status for a long time.

I like your suggestions, the problem I see with having your kids age is the fact that the NPC's don't age, so if your kids aged past toddlers it would completely destroy the in game balance because none of the NPC's woukd be ageing or getting married and having kids.

I agree with this sentiment, but if they have the capability of growing to adulthood or even get to their teens, then the other villagers might have to age, possibly killing the older ones. But having the children grow just enough to help, I think it's a great idea.
