This is something that's strange to me. NPCS already mail you stuff so why not actually give you something on the day? I mean you survived one year on God's green earth without croaking that's a big achievement considering the mines.

Agreed! Harvest Moon has this feature iirc. (I only played Tale of The Two Towns for the 3DS but it had a birthday in it and it put it on the calendar like everyone else's)
