1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

I thought it might be nice to have a place where people can report on their farm's goings-on and the adventures of their farmer, kind of like this thread at The Sims forums. I'll kick things off!

I am still very new to the game and in mid-summer of my second year at Peacefield Farm. In the first year, I was able to learn the basics of the game, and start becoming marginally successful: by the end I was selling honey, mayonnaise, maple syrup, and jams in addition to regular crops. I also used the winter to (mostly) change my fields to be oriented around sprinklers. My goals for year two were multiple: one, get to the bottom of the mines (I'd gone from 1 to 105 in winter alone): two, expand the house; three, build more farm infrastructure like a stable, a barn, and a silo; and four, tackle the overgrowth on my little islands and expand my fields. As of this morning (Summer 15) things are going well on those fronts! I got to the bottom of the mines almost immediately, and have built a barn and filled it with four cows. I also just expanded the house, so now I can start crafting food! I had a bunch of rain days in the early summer, so I used those to attack the big island and have created a larger field there. I'm also using the little strip of land just north of the road that goes to Marnie's as an orchard. My immediate plan is to explore cooking. Farmwise, my plans are to get a silo so I don't have to plant so much wheat or buy hay from Marnie; expand the coop so I can get duck eggs; continue harvesting hardwood for a stable; and continue expanding on the second island. I want the silo first because there's a lot of grass on the big island that I don't want to waste.

Took on yet another Extended Family quest. There was time at the end of the daily chores, and I didn't think about what that meant...

Then, the day after the quest ended, I had a day when all the cycles seemed to converge. Ancient fruit/pineapple harvest, kegs, preserve jars, crystalariums, mushroom logs, and tappers. Of course I couldn't do it all, even with speed buffs. So, I focused on those I prioritized and left the rest to the next day.

TIL that you can put clay into a fish tank, and it is rather awesome. I didn't even cheat and look at the wiki (though I looked after and the wiki doesn't appear to actually say what happens to it), I just figured I'd try one of everything.

It turns into a little mud castle 🏰 😍
I found that out recently, too. It was totally by accident, I wanted to add a rock and accidentally clicked the clay. I love it!

So, it's winter. And right off the bat I managed to forget my bestie Linus. Too busy with prismatic slime and the last few items for the craft room. 😭
I didn't remember Linus until I'd gone to bed for the evening.

However, finishing the craft room gave me the quarry, so I spent the next day clearing it - except for the baby trees. I also received a recycling machine for my last craft room bundle, and the first soggy newspaper I put in it gave me cloth, which I immediately took to the Community Center for the Artisan Bundle.
I caught a tuna, and now all I need for the aquarium are a catfish, a sturgeon and a sandfish. Two of my least favorite fish and one that I can't reach yet.
For the pantry I just need either a large goat milk or wool. The bulletin board is, as usual, a shambles and I don't have money to spend on the vault yet.

I've been trying to befriend Emily, hoping she'll send me some wool as a gift. I gave her two saphires and then gave her an amethyst from Clint, which probably didn't do much for my friendship with either Emily or Clint... I gave Clint the red mushroom he wanted to try and make up for botching his gift.

I'm also trying to remember to pet my new goat. If Emily doesn't send wool, I need a large goat's milk.

On Sunday morning Pierre came to annoy me about new seeds in Spring. Just seeing his smug face makes me want to buy all my seeds at Joja next season - except of course Joja doesn't have all the seeds.
He was followed straight away by Emily nattering about her sewing machine, since I had now discovered the existence of "cloth".

I remembered Caroline's birthday, but forgot QoS again.
On that same Sunday I did manage to catch two sturgeons. One went into the community center, the other I'm keeping for a fish pond.

Once again I skipped out on the Ice Festival to turn the Ginger Island kegs over to a new cycle.
I actually did go to the Ice Festival this week, but I lost to Willy. They just didn't bite, nothing I could do about it. (I think I was a bit late getting into position, though...)

The next day I managed to catch Robin on her way out and asked her to upgrade my coop. Then I chopped some trees, looked at the bulletin board and accepted a "biome balance" request from Demetrius to recoup some of the money I just gave to his wife.

I spent most of Wednesday doing minor farm chores and fishing, and almost forgot Sebby's birthday. Fortunately I remembered in the early evening, grabbed a frozen tear and found him at the lake, deep in thought and smoking.
I also remembered to check the QoS rerun today. It was plum pudding. Went to bed early, as I didn't feel like doing anything else today.

On Thursday Linus dialed up the guilt I feel over missing his birthday by sending me a catfish in the mail. Now all I need is the sandfish.
One of my ducks gave me a feather. (I bought one duck, but incubated a duck egg and I now have two.)

I spent most of Friday and Saturday at Squid Fest, but I also remembered to give wizard the void essence he asked for. I gave him a solar essence first, as a gift, and then the void one. Next day I decided to go back and give him another present, so now I'm finally getting some hearts with him. He was the only relationship I had at zero.
I did manage to catch enough squid to get all the prizes. I gave one of them to Willy, because he had asked for one ages ago.

On Sunday I went out to buy my first rabbit. I remembered Harvey's birthday and brought him a coffee, and I bought the two spring saplings. I don't have an orchard of any kind on this farm, I just randomly plant fruit trees where I think they look pretty.

Also, I forgot QoS on Sunday. Again.

This Monday started out great. I petted my chickens, my ducks and the new bunny. And I immediately had some new ideas to sleep on, which means I am now at Level 10 for farming.
The only other time I played the Rancher track I was a Coop Master, but this time I plan to be a Shepherd.

I went to the night market and caught all the night market fish, plus a super cucumber. I was hoping for an octupus, but they didn't bite.

The next morning my little goat gave me a large goat's milk! (So I didn't need that bunny after all...)

I brought Wizard another gift and went fishing at the night market again. This time I'm pretty sure I had at least one octopus bite, but it got away. I watched the mermaid show and played the shell instrument from memory before I remembered that I actually don't have that secret note yet. I got the reward anyway.
I remembered to hand in the large goat's milk at the Community Center, so that night the junimos unhoused the raccoon and built me a greenhouse.

On Wednesday morning I planted my ancient seed and made a simple sprinkler for it - mostly because I do need to craft one at some point anyway, and it will last until I have 4 ancient seed plants, which will be a while.
I remembered Queen of Sauce (the re-run), and now know how to make chocolate cake. I hardly ever make it, I usually get it from Evelyn - in the mail. I also remembered it was Wizard's birthday.
There was a train that threw me wood, stone, coal and 17 frozen geodes. Got only one mineral that Gunther needed. I did remember to bring the iron bar Clint had asked for, so I got my money back.

I blew my money on a pretty painting at the night market instead of saving up for something more sensible.

Congrats! :junicheer::junicheer::junicheer::junicheer:
That's cool, one day I'll have to try it...
I'll be waiting for that day. Also the day you beat it.
🤯🤯 Congrats! That's something I can acknowledge that I'll probably never get good at. I've tried, but I'm just terrible at it.
Congratulations! I don't think I'll ever be able to do. I can't even get past the second level...
Wowzers thanks everyone!
Now there's still Journey of The Prairie King, which seems completely impossible rn, but hey I used to think the same about JK. Maybe maybe someday...

Also fitting that I beat it the same day I finished the hut&it's inhabitants. Could it be that they helped with it somehow...

Wouldn't say its really a bad use for :g:...
I figured it will be years before that particular painting is sold again, and I can make back the money in a few days... I still felt it was "irresponsible". And felt silly for feeling that way. 🤣

Anyhow - after the night market I had a few days with nothing to do. I spent it trying to put a dent into some of my monster slaying goals. Mostly trying to get the dust sprites, because I really want that ring.

On Saturday Evelyn showed up at my doorstep with a clay pot and a recipe. She disappeared before I could wish her a happy birthday, so I had to run after her with a tulip on my head. 😆

When I entered her house, she wasn't there. Instead, Harvey was arguing with George about health care. I sided with Harvey. When Harvey was gone, Evelyn was suddenly back in the house again - I guess she'd been hiding in a closet to avoid the argument?
Anyway, I gave her the tulip, and she seems happy with it. I also gave George a leek I happened to have in my inventory. I'm trying to be good about having gifts on me at all time.

That night the big raccoon tree broke. I heard it crash, but didn't go out to look straight away. I am not sure I am ready to start dealing with raccoon requests...

I debated going back to the mines, but ended up fishing.

I need to upgrade my barn and buy a pig. I also need to spend 30,000 gold on the bus repair. I need to save up for spring seeds. I need to upgrade the last few tools to gold. There are some fruit trees I need - including a pomegranate for the CC.
I wish Pelican Town had a bank for me to rob... 😆😆
