What do you do with your crafting sheds?

What's in your crafting sheds? Do you have a shed for each type of product, or have one big shed for storage/crafting/everything?

Lately I've been modding a lot and have redecorated my two sheds. My first shed has two rooms so I can fit in all my storage chests as well as crafting machines - I craft A LOT. Especially with the Wildflour Atelier Goods mod - making perfume, soap, floral bouquets, incense and candles has been fun. My second shed is a herbal tea and artisan goods shop where I sell all my crafts with the Merchant mod.

I'm curious how everyone else sets their sheds up, modded or not, and would like some new ideas for other things I can do.

These look amazing... Someday I'll have to try and use mods, too 🥰😇

Didn't build any sheds in my later saves, just use the cellar for processing and outside is the workbench with chests around for crafting. The storage chests are most inside, depends on.

Thank you :) I hope you enjoy giving mods a go if you go down the modded path.

Having machines and storage in the house and cellar like you do makes so much sense. I think it’s more integrated, efficient and cosy. I was on the fence about using the shed or the cellar and feel I might go back to the cellar. I do find it a bit tiring going back and forth between house and shed.

I need more space on my farm for fruit trees so having one less shed will free up a bit.

Each of my sheds contains a chest in front of the door for stuff for and from the machinery. It also ensures an even number of machinery.

I've got one mushroom-and-roe processing shed with 80 preserve jars for roe and 48 dehydrators for mushrooms.

Two sheds with preserve jars, originally with one for pickling, the other for jelly. The one for pickling occasionally process roe from my ponds when I've got more than 128 left over after turning the roe jars over to a new cycle.

One shed is for kegs. But the 128 kegs there wasn't enough after a while, so I also filled the Ginger Island farmhouse with 122 kegs, and later an additional 2-300 kegs outdoors there.

My latest shed holds statues of endless fortune. I have yet to fill it, so for now it's at 124/136. The higher number is since I don't need to refill them like I do with most other machinery. I figured it was the best way to make my money generate interest rather than just sit there.

I have one shed for all the machinery - its giant and I fit everything I need with lots of space remaining, thanks to mods. For crafting I have a bunch of big chests around a workbench to the right of the farmhouse and four chests separate from that for each season's crops/forageables/seeds.
Never used sheds for storage and crafting, seems a bit inconvenient to go there every time I need something. Seems we agree on that. Yours look great though, I shoud decorate mine too.

I'm not modded so more limited than some here probably. I have two sheds full of kegs for processing ancient fruit into wine, so I get 256 per week (actually on mobile there are some tiles unreachable, so I can only fit 127 in each, plus one outside the door as an indicator).

One shed with 24 dehydrators for mushrooms, 24 mayo machines, 36 preserve jars for processing roe. No cheese makers now since I sold all my cattle (barn full of ostriches because I'm lazy). Some other space is filled with deconstructors and bone mills with hoppers on them (for loooooots for fertilizer from all the bones from Ginger Island), but I'm actually about to build another shed for those ... gotta make room for more mayo machines since I'm in the process of replacing my dinos with golden chickens.

I have all my storage chests outside but basically clustered around the house - 3 at the left front plus a workbench, 2 at the right front, and 4 along the right side. It does mean that the workbench only has access to two chests, but I've found that if I put all forages (including tapper outputs) in one and all ore/bars/quartz/monster loot/batteries in the other, I can craft the vast majority of the things I need to without having to go raid a different chest. Just a few chests inside the house for decorations and fish that I don't want turned into sashimi by accident...

Oh I guess I do have one shed that I set up as a collection display. I think it's pretty, but I'm not quite done organizing it yet.

An unmodded shed on a mobile can fit at most 129. One in front of the door, and 64 on either side. That is, if the machinery needs refilling. With crystalariums or statues of endless fortune, you can put one at the end of each of the 8 aisles and still harvest the corners.

I keep 12 mayonnaise makers in each coop mainly for processing the eggs below iridium quality. Sure, it does make for a bit of moving chicken-maze navigating, but I can handle that. At least in this game you can push past the chickens.

Indeed! Up to about 4 machines, maybe 6, I usually also keep them in the coop, but after that the chicken-dodging gets so annoying it starts to impact my enjoyment of the game and I move them into a shed. Especially when the ornery critters want to stand right in front of the machine you need to fill 😅.

@Terdin you've got an amazing setup there, so organised. You must have a lot of crop area to keep the pickling and jelly sheds under production, and having a separate shed for each I imagine keeps things from getting complicated with so much produce to process.

@Nonak Separate chests for everything from each season is a great idea, I've been trying to move that way too. Whenever I hear about someone using workbenches I'm always intrigued and inspired, I haven't quite got to that point yet, but one day hopefully.

Love this idea of organising your workbench chests so you can craft most things from only two chests at each bench. Now that is efficiency!

Not that much crop area. Not on the farm anyway as I went with the Hill-top farm map. But for a time I had 8 of every regrowing crop planted on Ginger Island. That stuff piled up and led to the pickling shed. Then I removed those crops and turned all but the coffee plants over to pineapples, as those seeds had also piled up. And I turned the starfruit area there over to ancient fruit. So, now the pickling shed mostly makes ancient fruit jelly.

When I got more fish ponds on the farm, pickling iridium quality mushrooms went to the pickling shed instead of the mushroom/roe shed. But with the 727 ancient fruit vines growing in the greenhouse and on Ginger Island, it's been a while since I pickled mushrooms. The pickling has been kept to tea leaves and the summer and fall crops in my 48 spots of seasonal crops (the rest of the small crop area on my farm is given to ancient fruits), since compulsive harvesting of my 15 tea bushes makes those tea leaves pile up too. Too many ancient fruits (almost 4000) are waiting to be processed, but that's a good problem to have.

I'm slowly phasing out my mushroom log and mystic tree grove up at the railroad, so eventually I might end up making dried ancient fruit to reduce the stacks.
