Scoliosis Awareness Month

In Summer of 2023, my closest friend told me she has it and I did some research and subsequently committed to raising awareness every year.

It was our secret per her request, but we went public with it in 2024. I can never understate how grateful I am to have her in my life and for her to have trusted me with 11 months of secrecy and lifelong support.

Below are a series of links to information/awareness/images. Nothing here I claim as my own and I have been given a green light (pun somewhat intended) to include even some YT video links.

For those who don't know, scoliosis is an irregular curvature in the spine. It's more common than you may think and can require severe treatment, ranging from wearing a back brace to requiring surgery.

#Green All Month

While I am not afflicted with it, I still advocate on behalf of my friend and all others with it. If anyone here, or anyone you know has it, I want you to know that we, who hoist green colors every June, are there with you in spirit and hope you are on a solid road to recovery!

I never knew there was a month for scoliosis awareness!

I personally do have scoliosis (just not to the degree of needing treatment for it), so it's nice to know that there's a month for spreading awareness to it

Wearing green already! I was regularly tested for scoliosis when I was younger and it wasn't bad enough to do anything about it, but I had a friend that needed to wear a back brace and it was never clear if she needed corrective surgery for it.
