Planting Ancient Seeds on Fall 1st?

Hey guys, I'm a little bit on edge right now.
I just hit fall 1st with FOUR ancient seeds (and one fully mature (planted)) in my inventory... is it possible to plant them right away and *at least* harvest them once?

I just hit level 9 farming so I guess it's possible to craft some tier-2 speed gro, but is there enough time for the ancient seedies to mature by then?

... and is it even worth it to plant them in the first place...? Greenhouse is yet to get...

It takes 28 days to grow, so you’ll need speedgrow. But you would only get one harvest (with both deluxe and normal speed grow). On average, you’d get two seeds from the seed maker, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. If you can unlock the greenhouse in fall, I’d wait.

... that's the thing. I thought that by at least having one harvest (so around, 4 ancient fruit) I can then turns them into seeds to have 8 (4*2) at the start of Winter.

also, is it even possible to unlock Greenhouse in fall? I can manage the coop/barns product... but how about the winter forageable?

It's possible, since nothing winter-specific is needed for the pantry room. If you can get the fruits/artisan goods/animal produce (or possibly fish roe/flowers/brewed stuff if you have remixed bundles), you can get the greenhouse at some point in Fall. You're mixing it up with the craftsroom, which is where the forageable stuff go.

In Multiplayer my friend has been able to do that, but i am not sure if it would also apply to vanilla, as our run is heavily modded.
I did it in my current save. Got fish farmer bundle and rare crop bundle when I chose remixed bundles, so towards the end of Fall the Junimo repaired the greenhouse, the night after the rare seeds bore fruit. I picked the bat cave, which gave me enough fruits to complete the artisan bundle when combined with a jelly and a honey.

With the standard bundles you'd need to build and upgrade coop and barn early, at least one of them to the deluxe version unless you get some wool from Emily, and make sure the animals are happy. I'd say that makes it more difficult to complete the room and restore the greenhouse in Fall.

You usually want to plant them as early as you can because you can duplicate them in the seedmaker to make more Ancient Seeds. Them by the time you get to the greenhouse you should have enough that you could fill the whole place up with Ancient Seeds.

I would advise to wait. Even if you don't unlock the greenhouse over the winter, you can plant them on Spring 1 and harvest them all through summer and fall. It's totally fine to have a slower pace and less stress.
I would agree with that, plant them in spring and try to get some more seeds by putting random fruit or vegetable in the seed maker. I read in the Wiki, that there's a 0.5% chance to get an ancient seed. And If you unlock the Greenhouse during Winter, you can still plant them there and get seeds after harvesting.

true. I actually found out about the 0.5% (?) chance of getting ancient seeds through seed maker by myself during one of my earlier playthrough, I was pretty shocked at that time..

I spent most of spring & summer fishing since I really liked the minigames, so I'm kind of slow when it came to leveling up my farming skill, thus only able to *always* (literally in all of my playtrough) get seedmaker by mid-late year one. With your advice, is there any way to get seedmaker early in the game?

The only way to get a seedmaker before reaching Farming 9 would be to do the Vault bundles early and restore the bus, reach the bottom of the mines, then go to Skull Cavern on lucky days and hope to find one in a treasure room.

I too tend to get the seedmaker late summer at the earliest, sometimes at some point in Fall, at which point it would be too late to replant. In my latest save, I got my first Ancient seed in Fall, a week or two before I could restore the Greenhouse. Put Speed-Gro (picked the best quality of it that I had on hand) on the first seed, then let the rest grow at their natural speed to keep the harvest day the same for all of them. ETA: I planted the first one in the greenhouse.

In my best save, ancient-fruit-wise, I got the first seed in the first week of Spring, and ended up being able to plant 17 when I got the greenhouse.
In my worst save, I got the first ancient seed by using a treasure totem in Winter in Cindersap forest, well after I'd got the greenhouse.

So, yeah, starting over would be no guarantee that you'd be better off with a new save and making different decisions. I think you're having a rather good start on it as it is.

Ha...! You got it right, pal... I really liked this save file and restarting it all seems like a bunch of wasted works. I guess I should just focus on grinding the Skull Cavern for now

By the way, I won't ping anyone but thanks y'all for the help and advices! I was stressing over nothing... MogBeoulve and Terdin kinda pointed that out. I'm going to just take it easy and slow from now on... focusing more on the fun than min maxxing everything.

... and I guess by 'fun', that just means more fishing to do... hahahah!!!

... and also mining for coal... to turn fish to smoked fish... I guess.
