Best places to find prismatic slimes?

I've had the quest a couple times now, havnt conpleted it. Whats the best floor range/strat to find one?

In my current save, I found one on a slime-infested floor in the Mines. I actually kept repeatedly going back to that floor as fast as I could using the elevator until I finally got that Prismatic Slime to appear.

Your best bet for finding it quickly and cheaply is by resetting early elevator floors like 5 and/or 15.

Not only are the monsters on these floors predominantly slimes, the slime itself stands out quite vividly so you can just keep resetting the elevator until you get it


Also just a general tip, if it takes you a whole day and you still don't find it, just reset that day, no point wasting a day when you don't even get what you want. I see so many people spend like the whole quest duration in the mines looking for it for nothing, when they could have reset the day and had infinite quest days without wasting a bunch of time.

go to mine spam floor 15 go back to floor 1, then leave mine go back into mine and spam floor 15, should hit it in a session or 28 like i did, lol

If you have some, use also Monster Musk. The more the monsters the greater the chance for a prismatic slime to be there!

Alas, the monster musk recipe is the reward for completing this quest.

And check the daily luck before going to the mines. It's no use trying and trying if "the spirits are displeased". Grind on a day with at least "good luck".

Oh my goodness - that is SO smart: resetting the day!! I’ve done that for mistakes or to finally win the egg hunt and ice fishing competition.

Since 1.6 it is now possible to have (use) a Monster Musk to help complete this quest. Check the bookseller, buy a Combat Quarterly (not guaranteed to appear. 5000g to 10000g), trade it back to the bookseller for a Monster Musk.

What do you mean by resetting the day in the mines?

If you quit the game before going to sleep and saving, you can play that day again, hoping for a better outcome. Obviously, you wouldn't want to do a lot before going to the mine in that case, since whatever you did would be lost when you didn't save. That way you won't run out of days to finish the quest, since you're just re-doing one day until you find the slime.

I've been failing at this quest and never thought to try that, so next time I'm going for it!

The way i got it was eating a food that gave +2 look that day and started in level 5 on the mines, found it in a contaminated level 11, was pure luck

I got the prismatic slime in probably just 2-3 days searching in the floor levels that dominated by slimes like the floor 1-20 or the winter styled floor levels (I forgot the name but, you got my point). I generally don't like to reset the day again and again just to not waste the time on searching the slime, I would prefer to search it the old-fashioned way. The time provided for the quest is 7 days so for me it's good enough. All you need is a good luck and good equipment. Gold or iridium pickaxe and Lava Katana blade is more than enough to start.
