Different challenge ideas?

I tend to play the same way, or at least close to it. I would like to change it up. I normally fish a lot for XP+ early game gold. Fishing is usually the one skill that I max out ASAP.

Combat/Mining are usually some of the slowest. I tend to usually get Fiberglass Rod+ Backpack upgrade. Sometimes I'll get pickaxe and/or Axe upgraded quick, just depending. I tend to go after Leah or Emily, for a partner. I usually go the Community Center route. So I wasn't sure if I should try Joja? Or do half Community, Half Joja? Maybe remixed bundles? Riverland Farm, Forest or Standard Farm are usually the ones I tend to pick.

Any ideas/tips to change things up? Anything would be helpful for different ideas. Thank You in Advance.

Try picking one of the farms you haven't used and pick a partner you haven't chosen so far. Roll dice if you need help to choose one.
Choose remixed bundles unless there's one or more bundles you fear to get. The Joja route is also possible if you want to try it, even if I've never been able to bring myself to it.

Beach is nice and the time I ran that I got a bunch of deluxe retaining soil long before I got the recipe for it. Really good if you want to use garden pots in a shed or other indoor spaces. I didn't. I went mushroom log farming, which the large areas of sand is also good for.
Meadowlands gives you the biggest monetary help at the start in that you get a coop and 2 chickens for free instead of 15 parsnip seeds, also has a bit different starting quests.
Hilltop is similar to Riverland in that you need to fit your buildings and farming on smaller areas, and can be good if you want to feel a reason to not fish as extensively in the early game. Mining skill gets decent help from the on-farm quarry if you can be bothered to go there.
Wilderness seems like it would help you train your Combat skill, but it's not all that helpful. It might be good if you want to get the living hat or want to see what an iridium golem is like.

Currently I'm playing a one item challenge with maple syrup. It's a bit boring and at certain stages I did ship some other stuff so that I could get the achievements and thin out the chests a bit as they were so full of everything. Now all I do is sleep through days to save up enough to get the obelisks. It was good for using different strategies though.

As I was playing I was thinking on how it could be more fun than just ship one item. Some ideas were:
- You can buy 1 seed of every regrowable crops and only 8 seeds of all others. Then you have to use the seed maker for all further crops. Found seeds like those in mystery boxes and mixed seeds are allowed.
- You can only give trash to NPCs - fishing trash, algae and stuff from the garbage cans. You can give algae soup and sashimi (from trash fish) or processed items from stuff found in the trash e.g. find an egg make mayo. Also any artifact worth less than 100g can be given. Maybe allow a Stardrop Tea or 1 universal loved item on birthdays but you can only nominate 1 item for all, like diamond or rabbit's foot. Maybe you can give the first of each cooked item as a gift too.
- Process everything except for 15 of each crop and 1 of other items for the shipping requirements
- Ship processed items and other surplus only once a year. You can ship only one item at other times for working capital and it cannot change for the whole year.
- Special Order quests and the Qi Fruit quest are exempt. The monoculture requirement can be paired with a Special Order.

An obvious way to go would be to do as much mining as possible early game and take the Joja route, since those are both things you don’t do. You could also try different crop combos early game. The Joja route pushes you to think more about how much money you’re making rather than Community Center bundles, and because you don’t get Junimo rewards XP is more important for unlocking crafting recipes.
At some point I want to do a no-alcohol challenge. Other possibilities: a bee and flower farm; mushroom log farm; animal farm with pigs and/or sheep as money makers.

Combat/mining can be nice for early game money. If you become really good at resetting the elevator, you can go for void essence and diamonds. Farming for geodes can also be really powerful. I always used to go for level 10 fishing, but I now usually only go for level 7 (with dish of the sea that is enough to catch the Legend) and then focus on mining/combat.

I'm also doing the one item challenge, but with diamonds.

A shorter playthrough where you just marry one of the npc's for their story without any intention to complete cc/joja can also be nice.

You can get some from the community center to start, when you finish the crab pot bundle. It can be done with the beach forage plus a crab from the mines.
Plus, you can get the recipe for wild bait from Linus without needing any fishing skill to unlock regular bait.

I highly recommend remixed bundles. Not needing gold crops is totally wild.
