The farm I work at once a week has sheep that like to hang out with the deer and llamas. I don't see them with the antelope much, but I don't know if that's because they are feral and don't want to come near the barn or if they are giving the animals who have three foot horns a wide berth.

I didn’t know antelope could be farmed. Or deer.

I think they need company, not only of their own species. In the farms near the places where I grew, it was common to have horses or donkeys in the same corrals than one or more sheep, because horses and donkeys do not like to be alone either.

We have horses in Stardew Valley, thus I'm considering placing the stable in near the barn of my sheep...
All herd animals work better in company of some fellow-herbivore kind,a nd work well in the same pasturage together in company. Sheep seem, if I understand correctly, to be the ones who do the worst if their own species isn't represented.

But the last time I was in close proximity with a lot of sheep and not just a couple in a petting zoo or fair show, I was 9, and it wasn't my norm.

Not really. They're cute and can be profitable late game. In the early stages, you'll get a better return on investment in cows and chickens.
I only had one sheep early game for the wool to turn into cloth. I never used them for profit but yeah cows and chickens are the golden standard for early game. Especially cows.

I never saw sheep irl actually. Is that strange?
