Raising slimes outdoor

In one of my saves, I want to try something that I currently never tried: raising slimes outdoor on the farm.

I have (had) slime hutches on a few farms, so I used to raise farms, but never outdoor.
My idea is to have fences to keep the slimes in a specific places, with some outdoor decorations and start raising them through a slime incubator, then let them mate. The farm is a wilderness farm, because the farmer is monsters/combat oriented.

Therefore, I have also a few questions:
- do the slimes lay slime balls even outdoor?
- do I need to place a flooring where the slimes are?
- do the slimes require specific care?
- do I need to turn off the monster spawing in the farm (wilderness farm)?

I also wonder what advices you would have for me.

Thanks for you inputs. I remember reading some information about outdoor slimes on the wiki, but I could not find it again when I looked for it, last week.

Nope, hutch exclusive

Tips:
Fence them in with double gates. Slime farming in this game usually entails trying to select for a specific colour, so make a system of multiple small pens and double gates so that you can corral colours you want together to continue breeding without them having free range to get around and breed wherever they like.

Building off of this, you'll want a large open area to do it, ideally the farm as they don't really breed when not continually loaded on screen.

Thanks for these tips, especially the double gate and multiple corrals, which are well explained in the video series.

The slimes will be raised on the farm, because this is a monster-themed farm, so that's perfect for the mating of slimes.
I will give some thought on how I will organise the corrals and for what purpose.
