Holly is a "popular decoration" but a hated gift? Tweak this!

Holly is described by the game as a "popular winter decoration." This description encourages players to give it as a gift, expecting that something popular would be, well... popular. I tried giving it to 2 random villagers who both reacted unpleasantly. Wiki says most villagers hate holly or dislike it.

I suggest you either 1) Change holly's description OR 2) Change its popularity as a gift.

The matrix... it's lying..
wha- what are we supposed to do

We shouldn't fall for lies of such. We shall rise and revolt against the addition of this so called "Holly". More like Dumbolly, who chose this? Why did we need this? Why? Wh- WHY?

Yeah, never thought about that, but now it does seem weird. I tried to search about negative associations with it, and the plant is poisonous, and is believed by some to bring bad luck, so maybe that has something to do with it? There are three people who like it: Leah, Linus (who would probably forage it themselves) and Harvey. Harvey could like it because tea from it is said to have some medical properties, but I'm really unsure here

Maybe it should be liked by most only in winter cuz it's a "popular winter decoration"?
🤔

Well that means (some) gifts are season depending.... I am not sure if most players would like this.
On the other hand, it would make gifting more interesting!

Gifting holly to a villager at least once thinking they'll like it is like a rite of passage for Stardew players 😂
Kinda of like Sid Meyers Civilization, where, in the first version, they set Ghandi's tendency to use nukes at 0, thinking that was the lowest setting (when in fact it was the highest), then left that flaw in the game permanently because people loved the silliness? I'm not sure.

I will need to lean upon the hallowed words of time's immortal sages to address the seeming conundrum of Holly in Stardew Valley:

Holly not food.

Holly not like.

I like the idea of having decorations. Maybe CA should add things like wreaths, like animal crossing has, to decorate the outside of your house. I would love that. Being able to craft holly into something cute and nice, or something helpful.

Correctly the plant is just "mistle", the word "toe" can also mean something like the pointed end of something, or the edge, and that makes sense. 🤓 Says the nerd with help of a german dictionary...

I should buy a dictionary or a thesaurus to sound smarter too.

Well, I'm not that familiar with old english wordbuilding stuff, so it was just an idea. In German it's easier, the translation for mistletoe is "Mistelzweig" and Zweig means the pointed end of a branch or something like that... Which makes much more sense to me than a toe.
