Competitive Tournament idea

I discovered this game a few months ago, and I'm really stucked into it right now.

I'm very much interrested into the min/max approach, I have to say i still never get to 100% completion of the game (yet), as I focus on restart over and over everytime I think I could have done better / faster to complete something.

I know this game can be played many ways, I would love to play this only to relax, fish and plant crops xhen I want to, but I can(t help, I have to do everything as fast as possible.

So I thought about some sort of tournament : The purpose would be for every player to start a game with the same seed, eventually the same farm type (but not necessary). everybody would have to progress at the same rate (1 in game week for 1 real week, or slower, I dont know), the goal is to get perfection as early (in game calendar) as possible.

- No Joja, CC is the way :)
- mo clay farming or other extra tool to predicting RNG and tell you where is hidden the ladder or so (because that's what I think kills fun A LOT)
- weather and merchant cart prediction could be allowed or not (could be used to plan the progression), I dont know yet
- You can obviously restart the same day over and over, but when it's sealed, you can't go backward.

I can tell it's a loong time tournament, and I dont know if iit could really be interresing, but I just throw the idea
It coud be fun to see how people take different ways, and see the progression of every player week after week

a first year award, best looking farm award, faster married award could be a nice add :)

Let me know if this idea is fun or it's too much time to involve :p

It's definitely a fun idea if you can get the right group to stick with it (and potentially even get them to document it), but I would recommend against too stringent a time restriction, which may just end up being more discouraging than not. Instead maybe don't have them share too much (if your goal was for some people not to get too far ahead.)

Would you allow players of all different systems? I think the seeds work differently on some, so it might be difficult to make it comparable.

What would the time frame be? One week per week would be a rather slow pace I think (if you play out all days, that’s only like 2h play time per week). It’s also an 8 months real time commitment (if you go to end of year two when the candles are lit), which I think is too much. Maybe one month per week would be better?

what would be the goals that would be judged?

@FilthyGorilla you're right, a time restriction would be too restrictive. Involved players could report their progression once everyone has finished, let's say when everybody finished week 1, everyone could report their progress / what they achieved on 1st week (and see what they missed from other's game)

@Ereo : I thought normal bundle so everyone has the same game

About Stardew predictor, I guess it can be allowed, because :
- I cant prevent people to use it
- I can be useful to plan actively the farm development, so it's a good part of the strategy to know about weather / merchant.
But i would be really fine to agree to play without predictor at all, it depends on how every players feel about it

About time frame, I have a very little experience, but I already understood that Spring year 1 is really really important, and can be subject to more dayily replays. On my actual game, I spent probably more hours IRL on spring than on the 3 other seasons.
Also, players can't progress all at the same pace depending on what's happening in their lives ^^
We could use flexibility about that, open week 1, and when everybody reports to be done with it, publish all week 1 progessions. Fast players can go forward, they just keep their progression secret.

About goals, we can imagine : faster CC completion, faster perfection, prettiest farm election, I don't know, every idea is welcome :toothy:

About different systems : I dont know if seeds are different or not.
