How to get further in the mines faster?

The mines are something that I struggle with. I actually enjoy the mini fishing game. Fishing is by far one of the best ways to make money, especially early on in the game.

The issue that I have is the mines. I can never get as far down into the mines as I want. Energy is always a big issue. I catch Chubs, I get the Salomberries (those really help early game), I get Spring Onions and craft Field Snacks, I'll forage for food, buy salads as I need them. I never seem to have enough.

I never seem to have enough cherry bombs, either.

what is the 2nd best weapon I don’t have a prismatic shard
You can buy weapons at the Adventurer's Guild once you have it unlocked. I tend to go there, if I can't find a good weapon through fishing or mining. Spam level 21 repeatedly for Copper Ore, that's usually a good level to get the copper ore needed for a tool upgrade.

bring a ton of food, i usually bring loads of bread or 13 energy tonics, and a couple of stairs.

the best advice i could give is to stock up on bombs, food, and stairs before you head into the mines so you know you'll be prepared.

Maybe you are trying too hard to collect ores and gems instead of just finding a ladder and immediately going down even when there are plenty of shiny things left to pick first. Leave them and go. You can always go back but you can’t go forward without a lot of work. Your goal is to get down, ignore ores and gems and the monsters you can and then once you hit the bottom you can play whichever levels give the most ores and gems you need.

I do try to get resources like Copper Ore, but do mostly try to get down through the mines, finding staircases can take a while though. I know I should make more staircases.

early-on, i would take advantage of salmonberry season, it's great earlygame energy and making field snacks out of tree seeds is also great!

i think it helps that you only need to worry about 5 floors at a time if you want to progress. first thing's first, i'd make a special day for mining; rainy days or just days where you have no responsibilities are the best.

i would focus on just getting the ladder. fighting enemies doesn't take any energy, and if none of them drop a ladder, i'd mine then (and i'd focus on the normal rocks instead of going out of the way to get the ore). i feel like you can get to floor 20 fairly well with the starter sword, maybe a bit of struggling, but the smallsword you get on floor 20 will help a lot. (i would recommend finding a different weapon/buying from marlon if you have the mixed rewards on and still have a low damage sword)

hitting ore and hitting the rocks that take 2 hits will increase your mining skill if you want to improve that! you can probably do this easier after you have floors you want unlocked. you can technically go through all 120 floors with a basic pick and the rusty sword, but i wouldn't recommend it. floor 30 i would at least upgrade your pick once and then you can probably manage that until you get enough iron for the next level

wut level are the cocoons and what r some decent weaponss

If the issue is energy and not getting knocked out then you should be able to overcome it.

1. Upgrade your pickaxe.
2. Go to the mines on positive / good luck days. You will have a better chance of finding staircases and getting deeper. Early game I normally go to the mines on positive luck days and fish on bad luck days. also rainy days are good because you wont have to water any crops.
3. When you do decide to go the mines, start early and devote the entire day to it to assure you make some progress. (at least the as much of the day that is needed to make some progress). If you are not able to get at least 5 levels deeper to save the progress then you didn't really make any progress.
4. Don't have to many crops on your farm that you have to water personally at one time. You don't want to have little to no energy left before you even get to the mines. eventually you want to be using only sprinklers for watering. This will help even more with energy.
5. Make sure you are actually saving enough food. Its one thing to be using the right kinds of food and another to have enough of it on you to make actual progress.
6. If you are not going to make it another 5 levels to the elevator save point by the end of the day then stop. No use wasting food on it if you are not getting deeper.
7. make sure you have a chest by the elevator to store things. So you can spend all day at the mines. You don't want to be running back and forth from the mines to your farm all the time.

Unless fighting/surviving is the issue, which a lot of people do struggle with, then doing these things you should have no issue making at least some progress in the mines every time you go.
