But, what if, two bread?
🤯 That almost like twice as good. But then...

Temptation

Two breads have this problem you see. A secret curse dating back centuries, perhaps even aeons, ever since the primordial naan was cleaved in two and cast to the disparate ends of the Earth to live separate lives, initially as 'na' and 'an' but later as free-living bread twins. But at one point each met another, but that other was:

Not bread.

This Unbread verily took a shine to one bread but eventually found that their union was incompatible. No... more like incomplete. It was torture to for it to feel almost-right but clearly sliding down that slope to mostly super-wrong. So the Unbread searched the forests, seas and desserts until destiny struck and it came upon the bread again. Approaching the long-lost but still-incomplete bread, the Unbread sensed something wrong. This was clearly Bread but it was almost like...

Sitcom bread. Ooooorrrr Sci-Fi bread. Like old friend bread but from a parallel-universe. Hmmm....

It asked this bread-but-not-the-Unbread's-bread if it knew of another bread that was almost alike, yet strangely alien. To which this bread described...

Another. Torn asunder from this bread's being when they were mere pups. Cloven in twain by forces unknown and dispersed to the four winds like a handful of undercooked croutons.

The Unbread knew.

And forged a trail, back through it's memories to the long lost place of its first bread friend, wondering if the two could be reunited. Should be reunited? What if their former fondness drifted apart in the intervening years, their memories fallen old and stale? No matter, it was worth the risk.

Cautiously the Unbread approaches its bread friend with the other bread standing back partially hidden in shadows, and was welcomed as a weary traveler but not overly warmly. The old incomplete uneasiness still separated their lives. And then the Unbread introduced the one bread to the other, gesturing to the shadowed figure. As the bread emerged into the later afternoon sun, both breads felt the missing bond and fell together in a rush of emotion.

As the Unbread watched the happy reunion, it noticed something was slightly wrong. The breads felt it too. They were still two when in the distant past they had been one.

You cannot unslice bread.

However you can make bread better. The two breads invited the Unbread, who had felt their need and sacrificed it's time and energy and poured it's friendship and devotion into their reunion, into the happy merger between them. Now everything felt exactly right and the world was given new purpose as the tradition of bread - unbread - bread was forever made part of Life.
