Do you think if the value of golden clock is reasonable

10m gold makes me have to plant the whole ginger island farm and craft hundreds of kegs. I even don't know how to make so much money before 1.5 without ginger island.

Kegs aren't always the answer and there is a lot of money making that can be less effort or more interactive depending on preferences. 1.5 and 1.6 added most of the alternatives but still the clock is super super end-game, sort of a crowning achievement.

With 1.6 you can turn most of your farm and a few other maps into grid forests with mushroom logs for low-maintenance gold making. Animals, especially pigs, can also be an alternative... or farming level 1 dangerous mine for radioactive ore to then sell a lot of radioactive bars for big profits.

No, nor in my eyes is it intended to be. It’s meant to be a showpiece / money dump for very late game farmers, not a reasonable value or return on investment. The idea being it doesn’t matter if you get it in year 1, year 10, or never. At least that’s my read on it, it’s primarily meant to significantly delay you reaching the point at which you have *everything*, lack further goals, and are just playing for fun if at all. You don’t *need* to go the hundreds of kegs route to get there, nor is that the fastest way to get it measured by real life time. It’s simply the fastest way to get there measured by in game calendar date.

For what it’s worth I’m fully intending to get it in my cropless farm just off of profits from animal products. It won’t be in year 2 or 3 as it might be with crops, but I’ll get there eventually.

As a point of reference, I got the Gold Clock recently but the only contribution from Ginger Island was a few stacks of Blueberries and some Pineapples which were processed in Jars (both sourced from Mixed Seeds only). The vast majority of it was from my regular Farm with 190 tiles planted, so not big at all. And it took about a year in-game while I was mostly doing other fun things waiting for Crops to grow and Jars/Kegs/Wine to process. That's 69 Kegs, ~140 Jars and 125 Casks (full walkable Cellar), which is pretty quick and easy to manage.

As Giant Octopodes said, it's a late-game target for the Farmer who's already done everything else and isn't a requirement for anything other than the literal Perfectionist. And with some planning and patience it happens surprisingly quickly. I expected it to take 2+ years from the time I was at 2M g and it only took about 3 seasons to get the remaining 8M, all while I was attending Festivals and finishing the Cooking and Crafting list, as well as doing Qi Quests I found fun. This was Year 4, for reference.

The Golden Clock doesn't need to be a chore if you do it in the background with good time management while you play the more fun aspects of the game.

However you asked about value and IMO it has little to no intrinsic value, even if just 1M g. It keeps decay from happening on your farm but for me that's simply not relevant because I like a messy farm anyway!

Nope, it's meant as a showpiece and isn't really that beautiful of one itself, I much prefer the obelisks as center pieces if anything at all

That being said, it was introduced in a far different time than the one we're in right now, and hasn't really evolved with the times so to speak. It's much easier to get that 10 mil which largely reduces its significance while simultaneously still being hard enough to be a pain for anyone who doesn't always have some moneymaking going on in the background, keeping it in a weird position.

I just recently reached perfection for both my saved files.
1st file: bought golden clock to reach perfection only because I'm on my 10th year so I have a lot of money.
2nd file: bought the perfection waiver instead cause it can saved me 5-6mil lol. I don't have enough money to buy golden clock on this file.

personally think golden clock isn't worth it if u only want to reach perfection. buy the waiver, they're cheaper! then after u reached perfection, get urself golden chicken so u can get a lot of money quick from the golden eggs!

This is soooo true you pay 10 million for the ugliest looking clock I’ve ever seen. Unless it’s solid gold you get sooooo cheated. I always hide the ugly piece of junk, it never matches my exteriors.

Trixie put it next to Grandpa's mausoleum and buried both with mahogany trees.

Luckily it fits pretty handily behind something like a silo, obelisk, and almost, behind a barn/coop (you get a couple golden rows of pixels sticking out from the top)
