Windows Not able to paint buildings.

It's been a while since I've last played but I remember being able to paint my house and other farm buildings.
I'm playing on multiplayer and my mates are able to change the appearance of their cabins, paint the stable, and change the pet bowl but everything else that we have we can't paint.
Small bug but I thought I should say something about it.

Are the buildings upgraded? I think they can only be painted after the last upgrade.
