This game is genuinely a lot of fun, but there are a few issues that mainly affect left-handed players.
Players who primarily use their left thumb while playing face these issues:
1. Farm event notifications are hidden by the left thumb.
During gameplay, farm event notifications appear in the bottom-left corner of the screen, exactly where a left-handed player keeps their thumb while moving. As a result, it's easy to miss notifications completely or only see part of the text before they disappear. It would be great to have an option in the settings to choose where these notifications appear (left, right, or top of the screen).
2. Attack joystick placement isn't left-handed friendly.
I use the "Attack Joystick + Tap to Move" control scheme, so I can't comment on the others, although I suspect the same issue exists there as well. For players who already use the left thumb for movement, having the attack joystick on the left side of the screen is extremely awkward, if not almost impossible, to use comfortably.
It would be fantastic if players could customise the joystick positions or simply enable a mirrored layout for left-handed users. Many modern games already include a left-handed control option, and it would be great to see Stardew Valley support that as well.
Of course, I understand that Stardew Valley is an indie game originally developed by a single person, so this isn't meant as criticism. I genuinely love the game and have had a great time playing it. However, issues like these can sometimes make the experience unnecessarily frustrating.
Given that the game has over 5 million downloads on Google Play alone, it's likely that hundreds of thousands of left-handed players could benefit from improved accessibility.
