Is the return scepter worth it?

It's a very useful item, but I generally use Warp Totem: Farm instead. It's pretty expensive initially to make, with honey, fiber and hardwood ingredients. But in the endgame none of those are a problem. And if you go to the casino on a lucky day, you can stock up on quite a lot of them via gambling, enough not to worry about spamming their use later.

The difference, besides its astronomical price, is that the scepter teleports you to your house's doors, while the totem teleports you to the portal on your farm. Since my other obelisks are right next to the portal, using the totem it's just much quicker than using the scepter.

For me personally, definitely worth it. I'm often in the Skull Cavern until 1.30am though, so it's very handy to be able to zip right to my front door.

I also have a mini-obelisk by the front steps, it's counterpart in the middle of my 'teleport hub' - a semi-circle of the big obelisks, to make for efficient warping around - also it just looks nice, I've got trees and flower baskets arranged around them.

I love the return scepter. Yes, it's expensive, I hate to buy it, but I love the product. If you are starting to hate all the running around in the game it might be for you. :D (Late game spoilers! --->) Also, if you have Ginger Island, it's really helpful for getting back from the island without having to go all the way to Willy's boat, to the beach, and back to your farm.

Personally I use the warp totems bought in large amounts from the casino.

I have a whole warp hub with all my obelisks and mini obelisk around it so I can basically get anywhere almost instantly.

I will buy the return scepter later on in saves if I need to do a lot of back and forth from my door, usually if I’m deconstructing tackle which is a lot of teleporting to and fro. I’ll still primarily use the totems though.

—YES.

There's nothing quite like the wind in your hair as you ride about in your Horse fulla Coffee and Spicy Eel but at some point you find yourself traveling through Distant Lands with monsters all about, wishing you were home safe and cozy for an 8:30am nap.

Sssccchhhheeeeaaaaaooooowwwnnnnnnnnnn

One casual swipe of the Stikk of Power, Staff of Imminent Return, Wand of Everloving Late Night Skull Cavern Outta-Cheez Butt Saving. And you're home on the porch as if you never left. Did I mention The Porch? Yeah, you're not stuck on some far flung part of your Farm now needing to negotiate a way home from that statue-thing. You're on your porch with your butt leaning on the door.

It can be a very late 1:50am deep in the 8th chamber of the dread Volcano surrounded fire spirits and lava-thingys and ill-tempered beachballs wrapped in leopard leotards with your Energy near zero, already eaten your last Magma Cap yet with a quick Scepterey swish and a flick of the doorknob to your North, you can pass out safe in your house, avoiding both an expensive trip to Dr. Mustache and an annoying negotiation with Marlon about whether 3 Dragon Teeth are more valuable than 3 Prizzy Shards.

I recommend leaving a nice soft rug just inside the door. You'll be doing this a lot and there's no need to live like a caveman.

Get. The. Return. Sceptre.

Yes, if you have the money. If not Farm mini obelisks are not expensive to craft at all.

My only critique of the Return Scepter is if I’m paying 2million gold for something I wish it would put me INSIDE the door. I don’t know how many times I’ve cut it too close and can’t get the stupid door opened in time. 🤪

I use it a lot, even when I'm just feeling too lazy to walk back to the farm properly. I know you can get farm warm totems sooner, but I always prefer infinite use items over stacks of items that can be used up. And money is a simple thing to grind for, so I find that easier than collecting the ingredients to craft my own.

I agree with this point to an extent, but in all honesty, if you're able to afford a 2,000,000g sceptre, then the 1,000g penalty for falling asleep outdoors isn't going to hurt you in the slightest.

The real value of the sceptre imo is not in the last minute dash for bed, but in the instant travel back to the farm in the middle of the day, to make a faster start on doing something new after completing a different task

This right here. You can basically do a one way sortie to anywhere on the map and then ZAP back home when you're done to harvest, close Barn door, kiss spouse, whatever. Coupled with Obelisks, Warp Totems, and Minecarts, you can:

6:00am: Get up, down a Coffee
6:20am: Warp to Beach to grab some Shells
6:50am: ZZAPP back home and Tailor Rainbow Shell to Bikini Top
7:00am: run Top thru Sewing Machine with Dyes to match Luau Skirt
7:20am: Warp to Desert to trade Jade for Staircases and Ruby for Spicy Eel
7:40am: ZZAPP back home and change into new Island outfit!
8:00am: Warp to Island, down another Coffee and Spicy Eel, collect Coconuts
9:30am: Trade 10 Coconuts for 1 Golden Coconut (and found another for 2 total)
9:40am: ZZAPP back home
10:00am: Horse to Bus Stop Minecarts, Minecart to Town
10:10am: Clint breaks 1 Golden Coco and gets a freakin' Mahogany Seed
10:40am: 30 minutes later Farmer Bobbi's still ranting about how Golden Cocos are crap these days. Clint is an expert at suppressing eye rolls.
10:50am: Minecart back to Horse
11:10am: Tailor remaining Golden Coco into Island Bikini top. Every lame Golden Coco crack is another lost Island Bikini top.
11:20am: run Top thru Sewing Machine with Dyes to match Luau Skirt
12:10pm: Still deciding between 2 Bikini tops
12:50pm: asleep under Tree next to River in T-shirt and shorts, sometimes fashion is just too tiring. Forgot even the Fishing Rod this time.

Due to your glowing reviews I'll be purchasing the zapper in the future

Hmm thanks for the feedback! It's nice to hear from a fellow mobile user (honestly you're the only one I actually know about on here, not saying there aren't others.)
