I feel this is currently a big missed opportunity. Adding bug catching would create a whole other element to the game like fishing. Being able to purchase a net to catch bugs, which bugs could then be used for fishing bait, museum collection, and possibly cooking ingredients. Rare bugs could maybe even offer a semi high sale value. Another possibility could be having a bug cage for display. Bugs caught could be millipedes, centipedes, pill bugs, lady bugs, beetles, praying mantis, bees, butterflies, moths, ants, spiders, worms, caterpillars, cockroach, scorpions, wasps, flies, mosquitos, crickets, grasshoppers, snail, stink bug, dragon fly, fire flies, stick bugs, stag beetle, hornet, water bug, grubs, ear wigs, weevils, fleas, silk worms, termites, mites, aphids, glow worms, slugs, etc.
