List of small but impactful suggestions (up to v1.5.2) [SPOILER]

Drullo321

Sodbuster
I compiled a personal list of suggestions I would like to see in the basegame. Most of them are small tweaks which, in my opinion, would greatly improve the already positive game experience. They are up to the current version 1.5.1. So be aware, the list may contain spoilers.
It is ok if none gets implemented or changed but it would be nice to get a feedback like "We have acknowledged/read your post".

## User Interface ##

(PC) Buying Stacks of Items
(PC) Buying stacks of items should be made easier on the PC version. It takes a lot of time to buy 10-15 stacks of wood, stones, hay with the current methods of shift/right-left mouse clicking and does not make any fun. As I have seen, the mobile versions already contain such a feature in a similar way.

Stackable Items
With the amount of new items in 1.5.x inventory space is even more precious. It would be nice if even more items can be made stackable. I don't know why Auto-Grabber and Auto-Petter are stackable but normal tackles aren't.

Buying Animals
If you buy an animal, you have to chose a coop/barn as its home. Everytime the screen defaults to the farmhouse. However I asume the usecase for buying several animals at once is that you put them all into the same coop/barn. So scrolling from the farmhouse to the correct building is a little bit annoying. It would be nice if the game saves the last screen position (or center of barn/coop where you put the animal into it) so that this process isn't so tedious. This is especially important on stretched farms like the new Beach farm where your farmhouse is north and your coop is maybe at the bottom of the map.

Coop/Barn Animal Info
Currently there is no possibility to have any information about how many and which animals you have in specific coop/barn. While you may count them yourself when you have only a few, it is quite impossible or at least very annoying to count them when you have multiple coops/barns. Compare it with the fish pond. How would you feel if you had no ability to place a sign onto it. Suggestions: clickable sign in- or outside of the building. Additionally sum of (different) animals in the newly introduced farm computer.

Reverse "Add to Existing Stacks"
It would be nice to have the reverse option of "Add to Existing Stacks" that adds items from chests to player inventory. That would greatly improve the way the player can sort his items or move things between several chests via the player inventory.

Qi Coins (Casino)
It is tedious to only be able to buy 100 coins for 1,000 gold. I would like to be able to buy more coins at once, 1.000 coins, 10.000 coins. There is no real reason to only be able to buy 100 coins at once because if you have the money and will you can buy as many as you want but it is frutrating and tedious.

## Game Changes / QoL / Balance (Small) ##

Bone Mill
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Bone_Mill It produces bone fragmens from any bone item. However it seems two bone items are missing, the Bone Sword https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Bone_Sword and the Ossified Blade. Would be nice to add them to the list as well

Geode Crusher
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Geode_Crusher Is there a meaning it can't open artefact troves or coconuts? Clint breaks everything for the same price and I like to see that it can open them aswell. I won't build another one in my next playthrough because when I'm able to build it and especially have access to Ginger Island I need to mass crush artefact troves and coconuts but I'm not able to so I have to regular visit clint where I can also extract the rest of the geodes.

Mini-Obelisk
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Mini-Obelisk This is a really nice addition to the game, especially to the beach farm. I was so excited to build it just to realize I can't use it together with my horse. So it completely renders this thing pointless because I safe more time riding with my horse outside of the farm then just safe seconds teleporting to the south entrance and then running outside by foot. Please make it useable together with your horse. You could argue, that there is now also a horse flute, but then it would be even more tedious unmount->use obelisk->use horse flute->mount and, just measured in real time not any time safing anymore.

Solar Panel
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Solar_Panel If I remember correctly it only charges on sunny/windy weather, not in rain. However even when placing it in the desert, where the sun never sets, it seems to be negatively affected by rainy days. It would be nice if it could be unaffected or work at a higher efficiency when placed in the desert. I mean there are real-life projects trying to establish exactly the same (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desertec )

Qi Bean (Quest) / Ice Festival
It was a little hindrance to have them appear during the fishing contest. Maybe exclude festivals / special events?

Qi Seasoning
Very nice idea. It would be nice if the +MaxEnergy isn't also only plus one but a certain percent. Additionally it could be nice if the buff time also increases

Qi Deconstructor
Very nice idea. It seems the item returned is always that one with the highest gold networth. However "the most valuable" material isn't always the one with the highsted price. For example crystalarium or iridium sprinklers. Arguably the most valuable material is the battery because it is the most difficult to get and you're not freely able to. You either have to rely on thunderstorms, which net arround 15-25 batteries or you have to build alot of the new solar panels, which cost alot and take alot of time to produce even one. In comparison you can freely enter the mines / skull caverns for more iridium. In none of my playthroughts over the years I had a shortage of iridium, it was always batteries. So it would be nice to be a little bit more specific what is considered "the most valuable".

Hopper
Simply saying this machine feels underwhelming/useless. The amount of ressources/the availability so late in the game you expect something that does more then just auto-insert stuff into a machine. It can't auto-remove stuff, there is no info if it is filled. Basically the time you invest to fill this machine, and overlook its status is at least as great as the minimal reduction you get by not inserting something into a machine. In my opinion the inventory management gets more complex. I tried to find people who have a better experience with this machine but couldn't find anyone who has a use for it. Even it it only cost one wood, i wouldn't use it in its current state. Would be nice if it gets some more features.

Pickaxe progression
The progression through upgrades and the new powerful enchantment feels weird and unrewarding for higher level gem and ore nodes. A gold pickaxe neads two swings for a gold ore node. An iridium pickaxe also needs two. And additionally a "powerful" iridium pickaxe also still needs two swings. From a logical point and a more positive gameplay experience it would feel nicer to continue the linear progression you had with previously upgrades normal pickaxe->copper pickaxe->iron pickaxe.

Foraging Experience - Berry Season
It kinda feels weird that every foraging action, like collection gatherable forage items, gives experience but doing the same action on bushes during the berry seasons does not. It would be nice and intuitive that it also gives experience, maybe only three instead of the seven for collection normal items

Redistribute Foraging Experience
Chopping down trees gives experience. Removing large stumps and large logs also gives an especially huge amount of experience. But it feels totally unrewarding removing normal stumps from chopped trees. It nets just one measily experience point and it neither does reflect the effort it requires to do so, nor it just feels right to let the trump stay there. If you have some real life gardening experience, you know that removing the stump and the roots from a bush or tree is the hardest part of it. It would be nice if this could also be reflected by the amount of experience it gives. It would be totally sufficient, to redistribute the whole experience between chopping down a tree and removing its stump (e.g. 12-1 to 8-5).

Availabilty of Clay
Gradually over the years, possibilites for many of the crafting materials were added to mass produce or mass buy them. The latest additions were hardwood and fibre seeds. Sadly now it feels the new rarest material in mid/late game isn't the new radioactive ore, it is simple clay. It would be nice to be able to buy it (Robin?) or have a machine convert stone to clay somehow. In comparison to other not directly buyable materials, there is no reliable way to get a decent amount of clay. Sure, you can dig up your farm or the beach, but that doesn't amount you with a decent sum of clay. Compare it with fiber, there you can simply go and repeat through specific mine floors or go into the sewers.

## Other Ideas / Future Content ##

Cooking Recipes Freedom
If I had to point out one thing I hate the most about cooking, i would say it is the recipe distribution through the "Queen of Sauce" channel. For any game content the player can mostly decide his own speed of progression. The game doesn't force the player to be as fast or as slow as possible. However you can't ever be faster to complete the 100% game as on 28th winter, Y2, because that is the time you receive the last cooking recipe. It would be nice to have the possibilty to aquire any of the "QUeen of Sauce" recipes by other means, whatever they are or how low the chance would be. E.g. monster drops in the more difficult mine or fishing chests, special orders when all other special orders rewards already aquired.

Bathhouse/Spa
This building seems to have basically no purpose besides for Alex training, Linus warming himself and an heart event with Penny. It is kinda ironically that with 1.5 NPC visits Ginger Island for swimming/sunbathing while there is a Spa in the game for years unused. I like to see content added regarding the Spa. Don't have to be something fancy or special, just to give it a purpose. Maybe there could be community upgrade, special order or anything related to rejuvenate the interior (feels kind of 80'th and smelly). Or maybe you can ask your spouse/roommate to have a date at the Spa.

Even more variety for community center bundles
As also described in this post
  • More variety for spring/summer/fall crops bundle: Random four crops of all available Y1 specific season
    • Spring has three more crops Y1 easily available: Rice (Drop), Strawberry (Festival), Kale (I left Rhubarb, b/c nearly impossible to aquire + plant/harvest first spring)
    • Summer: Hops, Radish, Starfruit
    • Fall: Amaranth, Beet, Bok Choy, Cranberries, Eggplant
  • More variety for the Animal and/or Artisan Bundle: Include (in either of them Void Egg, Void Mayo, Normal Mayo, Duck Mayo
  • Monoculture bundle replacing Quality Crop Bundle: Either two fields with 25 same crop each or one field with 50 or 100 of one crop (easily available with specific crops like Hops, Blueberry, etc.)
  • Geodes Bundle (replacing Geologist' Bundle): Each of Geode, Frozen, Geode, Magma Geode, Omni Geode
  • Algae Bundle (replacing any fish Bundle): Five of White Algae, Green Algae, Seaweed
  • Junk Bundle (or call it "Cleaning Bundle") (replacing any fish bundle): Four fields, each containing one piece of the six available junk items: Trash, Driftwood, Soggy Newspaper, Joja Cola, Broken CD, Broken Glasses
  • Survivors Bundle (or call it Abigailes Adventurer Bundle) (either replace a foraging or Bulletin Board Bundle): One of each: Field Snack, Bug Steak, Life Elixier
While the new bundles and smale randomness to existing bundles feels refreshing, it could even be made better with more variety, as described above.

Bone mill, don't forget about bone flute too. It can't recycle it.

Hopper, I wish it worked like in minecraft. It's kinda pointless when you still have to collect manually, which means bottlenecked by your presence at the time. Don't forget about ridiculously expensive cost (for current functionality).

Clay, there's digging site in island which gives you more than enough clay for late game. There's also not too many items require clay to craft.

For the rest, I agree.

Being able to quickly buy a larger number of items from a shop at once would definitely be nice!
Redistribute Foraging Experience
Rather than based on what removing a tree is like in the real world, I'd imagine experience is based on how many hits it takes to cut down the tree vs clear the stump. And I'm not sure making stumps more difficult to remove would be an improvement :P

I updated the thread to the current version 1.5.2 and added additional ideas, with a bold red text (as of writing this, only one). From my personal point of view, while it would be nice to see every suggestion in a future version, I mostly like to see the UI improvements added to the game as they would have the most impact to me when I play.

Drullo... man... please, do a find/replace... replace all "cocking" instances with "cooking" please. Like... I know what you're saying, but... dude. Cocking?

I find the hopper very underwhelming. For one it only applies to the machine in front of it, so you can't line up a few machines to be autofilled. The other is you still have to empty the machine yourself before it'll process the next batch of ingredients. It's not saving me any more time than it would to run past a bunch of machines with materials in my inventory and costs an unreasonable fortune to craft several of them. It's not worth my investment in having this machine as it currently is, it's a waste of resources and space.

I really, REALLY, like the "add to inventory stacks button" suggestion, and would also go further by suggesting a general "add to inventory" as well. It's got a lot of usefulness. When you need to quickly clear out a chest so you can move it, you can just instantly empty it. Likewise, for the fair, you could instantly empty everything being showcased by a single click, rather then dragging each item down, one by one.

A tiny change that could be added, there to be a Blue chicken at the fair once you get the heart event. Seems odd that Shane wasn't showing any off.

Stackable Items
With the amount of new items in 1.5.x inventory space is even more precious. It would be nice if even more items can be made stackable. I don't know why Auto-Grabber and Auto-Petter are stackable but normal tackles aren't.
I don't disagree with this idea, but I'm not sure we should be asking for a change. The inability to stack a tackle is not a bug, but a deliberately designed feature. Why is it a feature? No idea. I'd REALLY like to know that reason, because I find it annoying, but there must have been a reason to to it.

Same thing with the Junimo huts. It's been incredibly irritating that they don't harvest when it rains. I finally got my huts last game month and rain has come down several times to mess up my harvesting. Why won't they harvest when it's flippen raining? I don't suddenly not need to harvest crops when it's raining, and you can't just leave the crops alone either, because you need to get to replanting. Thing is though, Ape knows this. Him putting that in was a deliberate choice.

So, instead of asking for a change, I'd like to just ask why these features are the way they are. Anyone know?

While I don't agree with everything I think you have a lot of great ideas here! I love your idea of doing more with the Spa/Bathhouse. I think it would be a great community upgrade purchase from Robin (this one can cost 400,000g and 950 stone?). Then maybe once it's renovated villagers will start visiting more frequently during the Fall/Winter, and Shane can work there if Joja is closed down in your save file along with a new NPC.

I think it's a shame he isn't working at the movie theater. I guess the reason he's not is so you can invite him to a movie, but you could have that other worker show up when he does, or they can take turns. I think she's the same one that was the checkout clerk?

For the Junimo hut, I guess Junimos, like most animals, will try to stay covered when it rains.

As long as it's not the 28th, you don't have to harvest in the rain either.

I don't know if it's still a modern day problem, but wheat harvest used to have to wait for a dry day. If it was harvested wet, chances were the harvest would be spoiled and mold.

Well, I'm also having it rain on the 28th of fall right now and I got a bunch of cranberries that they were supposed to harvest. Since I planted those cranberries on day one, that means that being late harvesting them once, means a full crop cycle I'd be missing, so I actually do need to harvest in the rain, if I want to get my full profits. It's happened multiple times in the less than two game months I got my hut. I actively dislike rain now, because it's just so inconvenient.

Junimos aren't animals, and even animals continue to produce in the rain. Chickens don't stop laying eggs because it's raining. If that is the reason why they aren't helping you out, then I don't consider that a good reason. I bought this upgrade so that I could have them harvest my crops. It's not really all that much to ask. How annoying would it be if the auto patter/gatherer didn't work on rainy days? The NPCs keep going out, even when it's raining, so Junimos can too.

Also, wheat can be harvested on rainy days in the game.

EDIT: They don't harvest during the winter either??? Common! I was counting on them to harvest all the winter wild seeds. Okay, II no longer care why this is the way it is. The entire point of these guys is to harvest crops and them not going out so often really makes using the huts a lot less appealing.

Tackles: I presume the reasons they can't stack is because they have health and the game doesn't keep track of individual values in a stack. Hence why I can make the unsellable triple espresso from the museum sellable by stacking it with a self-made triple espresso. The only "compromise" I can think of is that you'd only be able to stack unused tackles. The game can track when a health bar needs to be visible, so maybe it can stack on/off based on that, but I'm not a coder and I know that just because something seems like it could link up to an existing cue doesn't mean it actually can.

I'm here for bulk buying (though to be clear, I do find shift + right click-holding quite user-friendly as is and I don't know how mobile deals with it), Qi coins in particular. I like the casino, but I don't want to gamble my entire way to the rarecrow.

As for the spa, I remember the first time I went there I was terrified. The place looked haunted, being functional yet no one to attend it and just so very quiet. I ran from it and didn't find out until much later I could heal up there. In my past two saves, I've gone there at times to heal, but I still think the place is majorly unheimlich -- and that's not helped by being unable to run past the changing rooms (ie, not running is logical, but the creepy area makes it nightmarish). I'd love improvements to it, like a caretaker being present, and I kinda want to be able to go to that second floor(?) with the plants.

Hopper also has the problem that multiples don't get seen if they aren't part of the same stack. I have one hopper in use for my slime egg-press, which requires 100 slimes per egg product. Stacks automatically go to 999. That means that I end up with a stack of 99 in the active slot at some point and that's when the hopper/slime egg-press stops even if there are more slime stacks loaded after that. I'd initially hoped the hopper would be an asset in making coffee, but the fact it has a limit on multiples and can't exchange/store ingredients and products means I haven't much use for it. I'd gladly pay more for the hopper if it would be more versatile.

As for the junimo hut, I think the rain limitation, winter limitation, and wild seed limitation are fair because the junimo hut itself is a huge boon, but I would like to be able to upgrade it so that the rain limitation goes away (I have no problem with the other limitations). I mean, junimo just resonates koropokkuru and that's pretty much a rain creature. Now that we have Qi's challenges, I think it'd be nice to be able to buy a Volume II magic book from the walnut room for the wizard to unlock more buildings. A junimo hut upgrade, a spa spring, a meteor-attracting pillar to increase their frequency and/or area of landing -- just little extras to strive for.

I think, if there's something like a hopper, than there should be an auto-grabber too. It would open the possibility for building machines and automated producing-lines. Imagine .. an automated smelting-farm :)
