Windows [HELP] PC Multiplayer -- Players Getting Frequently Disconnected

I've been trying to play multiplayer with two friends. I'm the host. We can connect fine and maybe play for a half hour or so, but they will inevitably start to lag and then get disconnected. This is making the game borderline unplayable! I'm hosting on a Mac, and they're playing on Windows machines, but the Mac/Windows difference isn't the issue (see below). We've tried the following:

- Hosting on Windows instead of Mac (still randomly disconnecting players)
- Reinstalling on all machines (still randomly disconnecting players)
- Logging out/in to Steam (still randomly disconnecting players)
- Connecting by invite code instead of through steam (still randomly disconnecting players)

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!

This is happening to my friend and I. we both have windows computers and at least once per day cycle she would crash or get disconnected. we tried switching to have her host and it did the same thing on my end. we do use mods but we have tried taking them out and playing without them but it still doesnt work.
