Kids in first year?

Is there something in the game that stops you from having kids in the first year? I've been married w/ max hearts for quite a while now and I've never gotten the pop-up for kids.

If you have the nursery, then you just might be unlucky :(. It's mostly luck based

How in the world did you manage to marry someone in the first year? I’m in year 4 and still can’t decide who to marry. I certainly didn’t have 10 stars with anyone!
