For Maru, I love that her hair is brown and curly. Plus, her villager sprite has the glasses, which another plus. For Penny and Abby, I like that they look so much more vivid than their standard portraits, at least I think so. And for Haley, I always liked her beta version over her current version. I think it's because it's simpler.
