Here's a tip on how to save energy in the mines after you have upgraded to a copper pickaxe:
If you look at this image, you see a different kind of stone, with a black edging around it and a white middle (in the left). After you have a copper pickaxe or better it only takes 1 hit to destroy those rocks. However, in the mines the other rocks, if you do not have an upgrade, cost 2 hits. So break those rocks and save energy when looking for ladders!
