Stardew Valley with 1.6.14 Update, build 24317
From my research, it seems like this issue has popped up on occasion throughout the years, yet no one has officially decided on an end-user fix. Many people say "it's time to get a new mouse" or "it won't work on Mac" or similar unhelpful suggestions, which are either irrelevant or misguided (unless the creator is planning on phasing out Mac support).
The issue is that when I attempt to click on things, including the in-game menu, I typically have to click twice before it recognizes I'm clicking. In the game, if I stand still I can click once and have actions occur, but if I walk around/move and stop again to take an action (be it with a tool, or selecting something in inventory, or any click at all) I typically have to click at least twice to get the game to register that I'm clicking. This makes going to the mines practically useless as fighting becomes roulette. It makes chopping down trees an exhausting experience for my fingers. It makes doing practically anything less efficient.
I have an Apple M1 Pro Macbook Pro MacOS 15.1.1 (24B91) 16GB. I play the single-player game in English launched via Steam.

- The issue only recently started happening for me since the last update. (I purchased the game 2 April 2023)
- The issue happens using the laptop's trackpad or external Logitech bluetooth mouse.
- The issue happens ONLY in the Stardew Valley game, beginning with the loading screen (can't skip it with one click, need several, can't close game menu with out several clicks).
- The issue does not happen with any pointer device (trackpad or external mouse) on any other application on the computer, or any other game in Steam.
- The issue is not corrected by toggling windowed/fullscreen modes.
- There are no error logs in ~/.config/StardewValley/ErrorLogs/
- My save file is not a supported file type for upload to this forum (?), when changed to .txt file the forum interface tells me "the uploaded file is too large" - any guidance on getting a useful save file as needed would be appreciated!
